I think I just confirmed that David Lynch did The Cleveland Show because of Seth MacFarlane’s work with Oceana, a prominent charity to help save the ocean. David has a history of donating to Oceana and Seth has a history of donating to Oceana for celebrity talent to provide services. #davidlynch

the very first question every journalist should be asking after grok generates CSAM is "how did it know how to do that?"

and the nature of the tech is such that there can only be one answer: it was trained on CSAM.

why is that not a COLOSSAL story in the age of broad daylight Epstein coverups?
there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

if there's anything that annoys me most about the fierce systemic enforcement of motonormativity it is the mealy-mouthed "we are all for biking and safety. that's why we make it impossible to safely bike" bullshit.

"cars are dangerous to people so let's remove the people" cities are for people!!!!!

Is there a musician/artist you feel pressured to like by your surroundings or community that you have tried and failed to enjoy? For me it’s Florence+Machines when I think of the word “caterwauling” I immediately think of the voice of Florence Welch. And I like caterwauling music sometimes!

I've worked in AI for over a decade. When I read that shitty paper that claimed models just needed to be bigger to approach AGI, that everyone started to eat up, I knew this shit was coming. Tech bros are the fucking worst.
the people making that argument are almost ALWAYS people that work in the AI/LLM tech world. if you ever see a progressive account on here arguing that "data center water usage isn't that much," ask them what they do for work.
"DATA CENTER WATER USE DOESN'T MATTER" is one of the silliest arguments I see floating around. unless you think re-writing 200 yr old water law (OG political third rail in the US) is a simple matter, the marginal consumption of new water is literally make or break for much of life in the western US

I'll break it down for you

"for too long"

for a long time

"those fluent in the good grammar of civility have deployed decorum"

some people have acted extremely polite

"to mask agenda of cruelty"

to hide that they are nasty little bigots
But can anyone tell me what this bit means? “For too long, those fluent in the good grammar of civility have deployed decorum to mask agendas of cruelty.”

Luddites were not against technology or progress, they were against the threat of a machine taking your job away being used as a cudgel to suppress workers rights and wages.

Does this sound relevant to any current topics?

this is a sharp analysis of how generative ai content is being used as class warfare, which goes back to the divisions between popular / mass / Low art for the poor -vs- bespoke / quality / High art for the rich

it's also the walmartization of everything, ai slop is all the elites think we deserve

Folks any rich text format box will create an emdash if you just use two hyphens without a space —

You all should be more ashamed that I learned how to use and emdash by reading through all of Ben Shapiro’s tweets for a piece I was working on.
