Not to take away from the abject horror of reducing your memories of your Nan to a digital nightmare homunculus, but I how long until they drop oversight and people start making homonculi of their estranged exes, queer kids, and any number of other ended relationships they need to let go or fix?
it's not even *just* evil. it's also promising a kind of technological immortality that is actually impossible with the technology they're using. even if this kid somehow has not gotten bored with talking to a shitty chatbot made from a 3 minute video call with his grandmother in multiple decades...

I love how uselessly overtuned the bsky moderation is, when I see that Adult Content bumper I have no idea if I'm about to see like, scantily-clad cartoon snake lady, or a graphic drawing of anal penetration. It feels like I'd be safer surfing 4chan in public.

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

You can get very far with a name, date of birth, old email, and one unchangeable government number as far as identity theft goes. These ID programs are going to leak so much of that minimum viable information. And there's no fix for it that doesn't screw over the minimally documented.
The market for child data has always been good on the deepweb. The biggest reason is, long term, you never know who is going to be what later in life. Future CEO’s, politicians, etc.
They go into the long term pile for exploitation later, bit like lottery tickets that at least a few will pay off.
