All good fiction, in all its many forms, should have something to say.

Smart people have already written about the many problems of generative AI better than I could, but I’ll tell you this about the thing I know: writing is about writing. It’s an action. A verb. It’s what we do. I write, you write, they write. Skip that and you’re not a writer.

AI “artists”: “They stole my twelve word idea for a thing and only changed it slightly!”

Actual Writers: “Are we tied of making what’s basically Alien but with slightly different variations yet? No? Okay hear me out, this time it’s a space fungus-“

There’s a million reasons I hate AI but honestly, just as a baseline?

If you don’t have the passion to actually put in the work to make the thing, I just can’t respect it out of the gate.

Give me stick figures on post it notes before you give me that shit. I’ll actually respect the stick figures.

generative AI has become widely available in the summer of 2022 and entered mainstream in 2023

people are working themselves up in a frenzy, convinced they're utterly helpless without software younger than still-fresh canned tuna. we have been making art for at least 50,000 years, get a grip

I create worlds because I’m bored and it’s a Tuesday, but sure, take the fun part off my hands.
finally, AI can help writers with the boring business of world- building so we can get down to the fun stuff: search-engine optimization

These are the people that would write the speech rules for the entire internet if Section 230 is gutted
A new Arizona bill gives cops the power to arrest parents who let their children watch a drag show.

A violation of HB2589 could result in a felony charge with up to three years in prison.

Posting misinformation about Section 230 on a platform that wouldn’t exist without Section 230 is a choice but it’s not one that I would make
Did you know Section 230 allows social media companies to avoid liability for what's posted on their platforms? Even when harmful content spreads and real people are hurt.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is on CNN talking about “repealing section 230” so as a reminder: repealing 230 will destroy freedom of expression as we know it. It means more censorship, suppression & mass surveillance. This is bad, don’t let a B-list actor convince you otherwise. Call your representatives!

With all the games that are getting remakes right now, this is the one I most wish would get a remake.
To celebrate Oni's 25th anniversary, I've made a Silent Let's Play. Turn on English Subtitles for commentary or leave them off and let it play out as a walkthrough.

I love dark fantasy. I think that’s obvious to people who know me, I rarely shut up about it when asked. It’s in the books I read, the games I love, and sometimes I think people get weirded out that I’m so into a genre that bleak, gruesome, horrifying, and harrowing. They maybe don’t see what I do.

Okay, hear me out, but maybe the world is just full of tiny people that we can’t see… until we eat the mushroom.
With most psychedelic drugs, you never know what you're going to get. But this mysterious mushroom from China - without fail - causes users to hallucinate tiny people: crawling up walls, popping out from under furniture and marching under doors. www.bbc.com/future/artic...

Only recently described by science, the mysterious mushrooms are found in different parts of the world, but they give people the same exact visions.

Honor your agreements—pay your freelancers. If you’re in a tight spot financially, or other parties cause money problems so that you’re suddenly low on funds, that’s unfortunately completely irrelevant. The freelancers don’t need to care about that. Pay them.
