Union lawyer.
I'd love to see some analysis of how the now-fired SAUSA, representing the Government, says that she and her family are also at risk of getting picked up because they are not white. But what can you do - it's a broken system? Yikes.

This framing is insane. The Fourth Amendment is not a "new requirement" and there is nothing in the Constitution that distinguishes between ICE and "other law enforcement officers." www.nytimes.com/live/2026/02...

I stand in solidarity with the more than 31,000 Kaiser nurses and health care workers on strike in California and Hawaii.

It’s well past time for Kaiser to return to the table with a fair offer for their workers that includes safer staffing ratios and higher wages.

Why are they sending witnesses to Whipple?

Watching this in particular. The effort to take witnesses to Whipple, as well as the police refusing to leave the scene, are key.

The report from the Star Tribune is that they arrested witnesses and took them to the Whipple building. This can't stand. This can't continue. They are covering it up right now. www.startribune.com/ice-raids-mi...

This also says ICE is arresting witnesses and taking them to the Whipple Building. This can't happen. It has to stop. NOW!

To Congress: bundling people off to Texas in the dead of night is wrong. A restriction on ICE should be that detainees are kept in the jurisdiction where they are arrested, not sent to Texas or Louisiana or another state with a hostile judiciary or where filing habeas petitions is difficult.
January 22, 2026 at 3:55 PM
Can we talk about how all these ICE detainees get immediately put on planes and sent to detention centers in Texas? Is it simply to have Fifth Circuit judges deciding habeas claims? If so, what do we call this kind of forum shopping - quickly flying people out of favorable jurisdictions to Texas?

I would argue that the case for dismantling ICE has, at this point, virtually nothing to do with larger questions of immigration enforcement and reform, it's just clearly incompatible with a free and democratic society to maintain a secret police force with sweeping and arbitrary authority.
Senator Gallego weighs in as well. Note that at the start of 2025 he was considered a *moderate* on immigration and co-sponsored the Laken Riley Act. Him and many other Dems have been increasingly horrified at what ICE is doing and shifted away from a "more enforcement" focus.

It’s quite likely that being called a “fucking bitch” is one of the last things a dying Renee Good ever heard.

I demand leaders who are as filled with pure, diamond-hard rage over this as I am.

I believe this is absolutely not asking for too much.
Not to be too morbid, but today's reporting is that she was actually still alive for several minutes. He said that to her while she was dying.

Two days ago it was Elissa Slotkin. Last week it was Jerome Powell. Before that, Mark Kelly. Weaponizing the justice system against your opponents is an authoritarian tactic.

The only person not being investigated for the shooting of Renee Good is the federal agent who shot her.

Is it too much to ask our elected representatives to be laser-focused on the escalating repression taking place in MN? I know - for me - it's hard to focus on affordability or corruption or any of the rest of it when people are being shot in the streets and armed troops are marching on the city.
