According to local Syrian media, the IDF which occupies all of Palestine, much of southern Lebanon, and huge swathes of southwestern Syria, attempted to arrest a Syrian civilian tonight in Beit Jinn but was met with resistance from the locals, and in turn the IDF killed two people via airstrike.
Deleted last post because the battle in Beit Jinn is apparently still ongoing

My book Where We Stand, Where We fall is now up for pre-order. It's about the politics of Doctor Who, the themes the show keeps returning to over sixty years.

I mentioned this last week, but now there's a proper post about it, with a 30% discount code from the publisher: lmmyles.com/2025/11/26/b...

Here is a list of reasons why some of my hearings and trials this year have been delayed and kicked off into the long grass, stuck in our record court backlog. Serious allegations which will now be tried *years* after the event. 🧵👇

Very interesting thread of in-court reporting on Palestine Action hearing, by the estimable @lizziedearden.bsky.social.

Even if government wins, it is facing what is called rather "anxious scrutiny" from the bench.

Suspect government lawyers are not delighted by how hard the judges are pressing.
The way Palestine Action ban was approved by MPs has been raised in the High Court, with Dame Victoria Sharp noting 2 unrelated groups were on the same order

She says MPs may have been "reluctant" to vote against it but the home sec lawyer says the court should be "cautious" giving that any weight
Many MPs demanding explanation on why two other groups are on same banning order

Labour MP Kim Johnson says: "Lumping Palestine Action together with other two obscure groups to ensure it is proscribed is a disgraceful manipulation of parliamentary procedure"

So I the Thursday night group what #rpg they wanted to play after Christmas and... surprisingly the answer was DUST Adventures.

They want to bust some Nazis.

I'll do the usual shortlist, but this could be an interesting season.

I'm not shocked. Of course they did. This will be one reason why the UK government has been falling over itself not to use the g-word.

Spent the last month mapping the blogosphere by its links. The graph is finally ready

Communities clump into a big hex and the whole thing looks like a star map

What are blogs anyway but stars in the sky?

Completely, and in my experience when removed from the immediate sugar rush of a right wing propaganda operation screaming in their ear all day, people tend to revert to at least an economically leftish median.

And that's why these papers still run despite making no money.
I get a surprisingly large number of responses saying “This is because the public are stupid” but for real, if that was the key issue, then it wouldn’t be necessary to constantly shitehouse people with the most misleading and inflammatory messages they can get away with. There would be no need.
It is IMO not possible to operate any kind of meaningful democracy when your national press is a joke and a travesty, but your mileage on that may vary. I think it’s incontestable that it is impossible to govern well and effectively, while being in hock to these pantomime clowns.
