echoing @emilystjams.bsky.social , I come from an extremely small town that is largely conservative despite how often it likes to cosplay as liberal, and when I came out all of the conservative people i knew all were very supportive and affirming. Truth be told liberals often had a harder time.
Everyone in my hometown uses the right name and pronouns with me without issue and congratulated me when I came out, but some still post brain-rotted transphobic memes on Facebook. They know me, so they figure I have legit reasons to do this. They will not, however, extrapolate outward from there.

I can't encourage podcasters to remain independent and crowd-fund strongly enough. The financial reward is often HIGHER than what comes by way of ads, and you never have to be like, "I had no choice but to play this morally reprehensible ad."
I'm a bit grossed out by how many of my favorite podcasts are now including ads for online gambling

If everything seems to be impossibly stupid, that’s not a new development. One of my baseline beliefs about history is that it’s always been this dumb, but we have a hard time processing and remembering things as stupidity, so we tell stories that make it all seem smarter and cleaner in hindsight.

I would caution anyone entertaining this sentiment. Mass protests are likely to be dangerous. We no longer live in a country where the right to peacefully assemble exists for opponents of the regime.

Had a portfolio review interview round for a UX position at a game studio today and I have no way to tell how these things went anymore. My work tends to be all over the place, wearing many hats but mostly high level UX vision which is difficult to convey in a portfolio.
