Hello world! I’m a huge Mayor Wu stan who thinks she’s one of the great progressive leaders in America right now.
The fact that Trump’s response to bad polling/election results is to pivot to blaming everything on immigrants and call for the execution of Democrats in Congress is instructive — when things are bad, he doesn’t move to the center, he doubles down and excites his base. Dems do the opposite.

There's a headline now on the front page - "Trump Accuses Democratic Lawmakers of ‘Sedition’ Over Message to the Military" - but it's small. The first sentence of the story quotes the death threat, but the front page and article headlines don't.

Q: What did the president mean when he called a reporter "piggy"?

LEAVITT: Look, the president is very frank & honest with everyone in this room. You'll all seen it yourself. You've all experienced it yourselves. And I think it's one of the many reasons the American people reelected this president

I haven’t seen a more egregious version of sanewashing than the headlines that say Trump called for Dems to face trial/be jailed etc. That is explicitly not what he said. He said they should be killed. That should be the headline.
It's just such a classic case of media grading Trump on a curve. "Oh, it's fine, that's just Uncle Trump posting through it!"

The fairly ho-hum coverage of Trump calling for Democrats to be executed is yet another example of how him saying something outreageous is not taken seriously because he *always* says something outrageous.

I think calling for legislators to be murdered is impeachable
Important: House Dem leaders just said Trump's call for execution of Dems has prompted them to contact US Capitol Police and House Sergeant at Arms to "ensure the safety of these members and their families."

Treat Trump like an unhinged menace. He's weak and in deep political trouble. Don't let up.

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted.

If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

If you google the Trump seditious behavior post, most news outlets aren’t putting the most important piece of the story in the headline. It’s bananas that they can’t just say “Trump calls for Democrats in Congress to be killed,” when it is literally what he posted.

There’s one person squarely to blame for Trump’s corruption, authoritarianism & assault on democracy: John Roberts. He’s enabled so much of Trump’s lawlessness while somehow escaping accountability for it

This is all John Roberts’ fault
Trump owes his corrupt and abusive reign to one man.

Sure. "The Grand Jury did not see the operative indictment" is the kind of fuckup where lawyers literally don't actually know what happens next because it SO fundamental a thing that it is LITERALLY possible nobody had even thought of this as a thing that could happen.

So Harvard is keeping this guy, but Claudine Gay had to step down over ginned up plagiarism accusations and bad-faith accusations of anti-Semitism.

Got it.
Larry Summers tells @theharvardcrimson.bsky.social
he’s stepping back from all public commitments in light of his messages with Epstein, saying he is “deeply ashamed” and hopes “to rebuild trust and repair relationships.”

I know that this site leans quite left, so I very much hope that people will recognize the significance of this news. The right is cleaving, and the side triumphing — in terms of sheer numbers and media coverage — needs to be understood for exactly what it is: authoritarian and bigoted.

Hi I was born yesterday and I’m so glad Trump is vetoing the bill to release the Epstein files so he can conduct his own investigation into them. I can’t wait for my first birthday party in 364 days, where I will get lots of presents. #MAGA
a) go right ahead and keep Epstein Epstein Epstein in the news, I’m sure that’ll be great for you

b) oh no what would we ever do without Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, JP Morgan, etc - the only problem with investigating them is that your team is full of incompetent clowns who will do a piss-poor job
he’s crashing out

The push after 2024 for every politician to go into “the manosphere”is going to be one of the most societally damaging takeaways from that loss. Politicians shouldn’t have to debase themselves and laugh along to offensive jokes to win an election. + It reconstructs a misogynistic media environment.
