Yeah could be that. I think it’s a combo — he’s saying what he really wants to do, but also he knows it won’t happen and is fine with just pushing the envelope so the envelope opens a bit more.

Honestly the video was fantastic bait. Dems should do more of it — when Harris baited him at the debate it did a lot of damage to his campaign, and this will probably hurt his approval if the media covers it right.

Was it her or Whitmer that said Harris was underwater in Michigan that fall? I think that was an extremely smart positioning step so that you can credibly say “I knew she was going to lose because she didn’t address [INSERT ISSUE YOU BUILD YOUR CAMPAIGN AROUND].”

Same thing with calling Dems terrorists — you use the same language you use when talking about the boats you’re bombing to describe Democrats, then say that’s the reason why you’re opposing their shutdown demands or something.

I also think Miller likes to lay the groundwork for more drastic measures so less drastic ones seem tame by comparison. If you lay out a case for members of Congress to be killed, you can more easily paint them as the crazy ones when you don’t actually pursue that action.

And the 6th seat of a 6-3 majority doesn’t have to be filled by someone who is clearly just a party lackey — you can put a traditional conservative jurist on there and hope for the best in their decision making.

Yeah it’s really a question of if they’re dumb enough to try/how much more control he loses over the Senate caucus.

Oh I agree. Just comforting to know that at least as of yet Miller doesn’t have the reins of the justice department.

Thomas won’t do it, he’s too arrogant and if he sticks it out until mid 2028 I think he becomes the longest serving justice in history. Alito might!

It seems like the consensus is Bove gets the nomination and I don’t think Collins or Tillis vote for him. If things get worse on the economy you could probably peel off a few more. Plus that feels like one of those moments where McConnell sacks up.

I mean, haven’t they already picked clerks for a couple of years out? It seems like they’re not retiring in 2026 but I could be wrong.

I mean, if your theory of the case is that Miller is the one posting this/telling Trump about this, then Miller isn’t exercising the power of the presidency, or we’d be hearing about their plans to charge people with seditious treason.

The issue isn’t it not being covered, the issue is them trying to sanitize it or not covering it with appropriate seriousness. Politico’s headline was that Trump called for them to “face trial.” If you don’t read past the headline, which many don’t, you won’t know that Trump called for their deaths!

This isn’t one of those Trump things that can go either way, or where he has plausible deniability. He said they committed seditious treason, punishable by death. If you can’t make that the headline, get out of journalism.
