My greatest worry with dismissing Musk et al as misunderstanding the source material is that it ignores the actual connections and parallels between DnD's construction of race and the history of race science. They are not inventing racism where there is none, they can see the game for what it is.

Communicating why a 50 year mortgage costs more, overall, than a 30 year mortgage should not be a hard task.

The problem is the average American is both functionally illiterate and innumerate, as a deliberate result of decades of the policies made by the very people pushing for 50 year mortgages.

this is an extremely common and well understood surgery, obviously this was not a real number, but what the fuck

healthcare costs are an absurd kabuki theater between insurance and providers and no human being can possibly be expected to manage this shit

anyone who says otherwise is lying to you

It is flattering and since 3 languages means you will be retain intellect longer my brain may be immortal with my 5 (spoken and written) and 12 (capable of understanding a conversation). What it really means is two things:
-We evolved to speak multiple languages.
-Being amateur is good for you.
Being bilingual delays ageing, but being multilingual is even better - study
But being multilingual is even better, because the more languages spoken, the greater the effect.

The closer a person is to the seat of power the fewer languages they speak.
Americans, the British and French speak 1 or 2 languages. Fascists openly push for a monoculture.
Spain (and France) have spent centuries trying to destroy Catalan and Basque.
It is also a bit of a relief because I cannot think of anyone in my family that speaks only one language. Most speak at least 3. My mother and I have used 4 with each other today.
More politically. Speaking one language is one of the greatest privileges empire can offer.

In the century leading up to 1975, nearly 6000 freighters went down in the Great Lakes.

The Edmund Fitzgerald was the last.

The last. In 50 years, not a single commercial freighter has been lost in the Great Lakes.

Why?

It's NOAA. Of course it's NOAA.

Contact your lawmakers:

Democratic, to tell them to hold the line;

and, yes, Republican, to stress that this budget will have grievous consequences for the entire country, including financial ruin for many of their largest donors

www.congress.gov/members/find...
If a budget deal goes through without restoring Medicaid & ACA subsidies, they will never be restored.

That's a death sentence for millions of Americans but also to the entire republic and economy: Health care is a for-profit business generating TREMENDOUS economic activity & will grind to a halt.

Nuremburg trials is the moderate position
He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

Yes! The thing abt public libraries that is so beautiful & crucial is the idea that *anybody* could do this — you need no credential, there’s no gatekeeping, literally any person can be an intellectual. You can come from absolutely nothing & yet, by means of curiosity + work, create real knowledge
I wrote a significant chunk of my first book at a Chicago Public Library, an amazing public space where people could read books and newspapers, access the internet, or just keep warm for a while on a cold day. This is appalling.
CPL is an absolute palace to the people and these proposed cuts are abominable. Artificial austerity. Chicago folks, read this, check the links to bug the mayor and your alders—this can be fought and won.
