American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

There was a scene in the first of those Left Behind books where the antichrist speaks to the UN after the rapture and bends all nations to his knee with the power of his charisma.

This... is the opposite of that.

The Third Reich didn't last 1,000 years.

Pinochet was ousted with a referendum.

And the US isn't exactly dealing with the smartest, most competent fascists.

Those of you insisting that 2025 is forever need to read a book, touch grass, go to therapy, anything other than trying to make others quit.

@avclub.com hey, it'd be nice if I could read your site on a web browser without all the pop up ads and auto play videos making my computer's fan kick into overdrive and the browser crash.

Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

There's be more peace on this web site and in our alleged coalition if liberals accepted that the left does sincerely believe in things. If those things seem edgy it's because the media doesn't take them seriously, if they seem contrarian it's because the opposite is hegemonic.

@darthbluesky.bsky.social You were kind enough to repost a picture of my dog and daughter a while ago (2nd pic). Our beautiful boy recently developed lymphoma and we had to say goodbye to him today. This pic is how we will remember him. He brought nothing but joy and happiness to the world. RIP Ted.

I know posting "the girls are fighting" seems funny, but it's actually insensitive and shitty.

My father died in a girl fight. He tried to break it up and the girls pulled him apart like freshly baked bread. He didn't even scream. One moment he was there, the next just a spray of dad viscera.

Syracuse lacrosse looks completely unprepared for this game. Did they bother to work on clears this week in preparation for the team with the best ride in the country? Add to that lazy ground ball effort, impatient offense, and dumb penalties. Hope they can turn it around.

The words 'Top Christ Following Man of the Year' have become an earworm in my brain. It's such an awkward construction for the name of an award, but so perfectly fits the Gemstone universe. Well done.
