Astronomer here! I’m a Hungarian-American radio astronomer, alias /r/Andromeda321 on Reddit. Assistant professor at the University of Oregon
This is like when students request the slides in advance for a lecture. I’m always like I’m sure some profs are put together enough for that request but I’m not one of them

Artemis II astronauts are also doing quarantine before going to the moon! They had to start before the launch last week got shifted. After all who wants to get sick while flying around the moon

Thanks for sharing this! It’s been a bit depressing to me lately just how many normal physicists of my undergrad years I knew dealt w Epstein. Not saying it’s the root cause of what made a lot of my undergrad years hard but it sure was a symptom.

I mean I lived closer to the ocean in Boston! A few more things going on than just that I suppose :)

Btw the color scale and style etc are all inspired by my one I did in 2021 when I still lived in Massachusetts. Oregon weather is much more stable it turns out!

My cross stitch temperature chart for 2025 is done for Eugene, Oregon! Sure I’m over a month late, but ya know, pregnant w twins #sciart

Oh wow! Where is it?
February 6, 2026 at 7:21 PM
Haha yes I remember when it started. I was like oh fun niche hobby and then was like oh by hobby I meant obsession 😅

Fun Olympics news today- my friend Lauren is there working for US Curling! Lauren preps ice (VERY involved process for the sport), and is the first woman to *ever* go from US Curling to do this- proud of her! ☺️

Also, she has a physics degree, for further proof that physics can take you anywhere. 🥌

For those who say American scientists will “just go abroad” when funding is cut here, just a reminder that science funding is facing cuts across the globe right now 😔
February 6, 2026 at 4:06 PM
That’s awful. It wasn’t exactly *great* before this either. :(

Guess who's lead author on the top science article on Reuters right now?! 🤩

🔭🧪🎢
February 5, 2026 at 7:22 PM
Can’t wait to see it! Tatsuya Matsumoto came out w a paper during the winter break on this too if you haven’t seen it.
February 5, 2026 at 5:33 PM
Press release is out! 🤩
Oh look, it's @whereisyvette.bsky.social and, further down in the article, Jetty McJetface!
A supermassive black hole continues to emit an exceptionally powerful radio jet from a shredded star, with projections indicating the jet’s intensity may peak around 2027.
February 5, 2026 at 4:11 PM
Haha yeah what can I say, a couple months in you start thinking to yourself “what are relatable units the public can understand to take this into perspective...”

Hope you enjoyed it. 🙂
February 4, 2026 at 5:28 PM
Nope sorry not this time
February 4, 2026 at 4:12 PM
I have a big press release coming out tomorrow about my research. Reuters just wrote to me asking for comments! 😮
February 4, 2026 at 3:56 PM
It was warmer yesterday in Oregon than where my parents are in Florida. Totally normal 🫠

I mean, I also just can’t stand for more than 10min any more so riding out the actual protests for now. I did do No Kings pre pregnancy tho
February 1, 2026 at 9:50 PM
I basically can’t drive thru our little downtown for the foreseeable future despite major roads passing there bc twice in the last week they lobbed tear gas at protesters (which def also affected cars driving by). Tear gas is an abortifacient and I’m pregnant w twins.

Thanks, I feel protected now!
Are any politicians running on a platform of finally banning teargas? Like, that shit is banned for use in warfare but it seems like everyone is okay with it being lobbed at citizens on a regular basis.

Yeah for me I just always knew I wanted to be an astronomer and having fun in history classes was never going to change that. So ultimately no giant incentive for the degree
January 31, 2026 at 9:10 PM
I did classical history too! But yea Viking history was a one off taught by a prof. I liked it a lot because a ton of European history is actually wrapped up in the Vikings, like all the major Russian cities are where they had to portage their boats to reach Constantinople and hired locals
