For #Stunday, I'm drawn back to #Moab, and #ArchesNationalPark in #Winter! My very first trip there!
I was blown away by the very alien landscape to the #PNW.
Everything is shades of ORANGE! 😆 And the vast #Landscapes, omg... I took well over 2k photos.

From the bottom right corner, a two lane road is visible with two cars on it headed to the left in the far lane. The road disappears between sandstone formations in the middle bottom of the image. The top third of the image contrasts strongly in color with the bottom of the image. It is mainly blue from distance, and shows a tall range of snow capped conical peaks, their lower flanks draped with darker blue forest. This is inside of Arches National Park in Utah near the town of Moab. The distant peaks are the La Sal mountain range.

Amazing what 1 minute and 30 seconds in time can change!
That's the time separation for these two photos in #PDX.
After the 2nd one, it was completely clouded over, for many days.
But when it clears, the view is amazing!

There is also some lens flaring from a bright light source at lower right, that shows across a lot of the right side of the image. The same image framing with tree tops and a peaked roof in the lower part of the image, but with advancing clouds, blurred from time exposure. Only the brightest stars (Jupiter, Sirius, and Orion) are still visible, versus the previous image full of stars in the whole sky. The elapsed time between the two images is only about 1 minute and 30 seconds.

It was a real joy getting to see The #Moon last night after a long while without! I'd packed the camera for a short walk in the woods, when I realized I should probably see if I could spot the Moon in the evening blue sky.

Foggy blue hour on some 12-years expired E100.

I didn't expect to get this shot. Fog was piling on and virtually no daylight left. I think this was a 30-40" exposure after a guess at reciprocity failure.

Star hopping in the alts...
A night photo of a dark sky after nightfall, with many visible scattered stars across the upper 3/4 of the image. But very low down, and left of center is a bright point of light between some trees. That is the planet Jupiter. The remainder of the bottom 1/4 of the image are silhouetted tall conifer trees, and in front of them bare trees without leaves gently underlit by a soft reddish glow from below. And on the far right bottom corner is a strong purple light that softly colors some minor fogginess into the sky above. The rest of the sky above is Winter stars and constellations. The distinctive sideways "V" shape of the head of Taurus The Bull is center right, with horns pointing left. The two bright stars that are the tips of the horns line up with a tall pointy tree just right of center. Above it is the tight, bright jewels of the Pleiades constellation. Seven bright stars that have been known to humankind longer than we've had words. The bright circumpolar star Capella is just left of dead center. Above that is the constellation Perseus, Greek hero, "...a guy made of dots and lines". There are many other small stars visible, some have stories and belong to more constellations, but only so much space in Alt. I would suggest searching for information on Winter Constellations, and lookout for rabbit holes of information. 🐇😆 A stretch of night sky overhead with a night conifer tree top underlit in red from below in the lower left corner. Just above the tree is a chain of stars that make a short "M" shape. That is the Constellation Cassiopeia. Just to the right and up a bit is the fainter constellation Perseus. Following a diagonal line from Cassiopeia through Perseus, we pass the bright star Capella lower a bit toward the right corner, then pass through the horns of Taurus whose head is upside-down from the top right with the inverted "V". And to the left of the bull head is The Pleiades. The constellation Andromeda is to the upper right, as is the galaxy of the same name. By tapping the image and pinch zooming, a faint diagonal dimly glowing slash "\" is the disk of that distant galaxy, just visible to the unaided eye from dark places.

From the Needles District, Island in the Sky appears as a massive, flat-topped mesa dominating the northern horizon. Situated approximately 1,000 feet lower than the mesa, the Needles offers a perspective of a towering, sheer-walled 'island' of rock floating above the surrounding canyons.

A monochrome (Black and white) photo of a waterfall in Winter with snow and ice, as it drops over a suspended cliff face into a bowl made from ice and snow at it's base. The ice clings to the underside of the cliff, mainly behind the waterfall on it's left. The cliff face dips down from both the left and right, forming a wide "V" shape where the waterfall drops. The edges of the cliff are coated with snow and beyond the edge are tall dark conifers with snow on their branches. The cliff faces are roughly textured in mottled grey stone and dark mosses. There is a cavity behind the falls, below the hanging part of the cliff, where the blown white ice from the freezing waterfall spray collects in a slope down into the built up bowl where the base of the waterfall is hidden inside. In the foreground, a slope of snow descends steeply from center left, then sweeps to the right more gently to the right of center. The slope has some leafless brush visible poking up out of the snow. To the right side in the foreground is a small slim tall conifer standing all the way to the top of the photo on that side.

I managed a few snaps of #Venus back then, as it transited the #Sun in 2012, and then the clouds came to stay. ☁️
It will not do it again until +92.5, or +100 years from now.

A yellow/orange image of the sun's visible face, with a few big sunspots, some wisps of cloud, and a line of dark silhouette circles going toward 2 o'clock from middle left on the sun's face, but not as far as the middle of it's path. Clouds moved in before I could get enough pictures of The Planet Venus crossing the suns face to make a complete time lapse transit. But it was a memorable sight. It will not happen for 92 years from now in 2025, and again 8 years from then.
