I love that my kids get exposed to music at their public school - I don't love that so little attention is PAID to the children that my daughter was playing a broken flute (as in, *nothing happened* when you pressed any of the keys) for a number of weeks before she played for me and I told her.

Simply cannot believe that they have only reopened the government until January. Check in on your local scientists folks. We need a hug.

My first flight of the day is slightly delayed out of Burbank, so I checked the status of the inbound flight for my tight connection in SFO and it’s my plane. I’m on the inbound flight.

AND NOW SCHOOL IS CLOSED TOMORROW AS WELL.

I just, I mean, I love them, and they're great, but also I need them to be occupied by someone else during school hours.
The school has a pupil free day today and I've kicked my kids out of the house because I'm WFH and I have meetings, and apparently half the neighbourhood kids' parents have done the same so they're wandering the neighbourhood in a pack like it's the 80's or something.

Okay no-one's published a planet ephemeris in Lilian Date yet but we've seen A SURPRISING NUMBER OF THE REST OF THESE.

(And this is without counting all the TDB, UTC, TT variants of the above).

look I know being an engaged citizen IS the work of democracy but it is also the work of elected officials not to create situations where everyone has to be mobilized all the time to prevent them from allowing some kind of Dickensian horror on a Sunday night while you're in between loads of laundry

My own illogical hypocrisy is keeping me awake: I love the device of paintings inside paintings, and yet I loathe the one where fictional characters declaim ‘But this isn’t a book/TV show/movie! This is real life!’

I’ve done enough this week.

YOU’VE done enough this week.

I hope you’re doing okay.

My husband and kids went pescatarian a couple years ago now, and he is the cook of the family so I don't get much meat at home these days. Very occasionally he'll cook up a big batch of meat to freeze and add to meals for my serve and this is one of those occasions and the house. smells. incredible.

(To be clear, we also spruced up a bunch of other content and functionality on the overview pages, the first of a series of rolling updates, so do check them out!)

Updates are summarized here: exoplanetarchive.ipac.caltech.edu/docs/exonews...

Hey you. YES YOU. Super persnickety astronomer. You know who you are.

NASA Exoplanet Archive just updated our overview pages so the stars are closer to their actual colours, as per Harre & Heller (2021) and Cranmer (2021).

You're welcome. 😎
