The use of "surge" here is so fucking grotesque. Trump is using Iraq War language against the citizens of his own country.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

If ever there was a time not to normalize Trump’s authoritarian fever dreams, this is it.

This should be impeachable. ‘War ravaged’ Portland? He’s insane - & insanely power hungry. The script is set - call an imaginary group a terror group and then send in the troops.

Most of the states backing Trump’s crime crackdown have areas with higher gun homicide rates than the nation’s capital, a Trace analysis shows.

At least 17 Mississippi counties endured more gun homicides per capita than the nation’s capital in 2024.

Hey, did you know that the NLRB has operated in violation of the Constitution for 90 years? It's right there in this original Constitution we found in 2025.
5th Cir. holds that the structure of the NLRB violates the separation of powers. Preliminarily enjoins three enforcement actions, including one against SpaceX.

THEY ARE SAYING IT ALL SO LOUDLY OUT LOUD.

They do not care, at all, about public safety. They do not want to reduce crime. They are literally SAYING that.

They just want to punish and hurt.

That is all "tough on crime" has ever been. It's inexcusable they've gotten away w it for so long.
REPORTER: What about crime prevention? Do you or the president plan to do anything to address the root causes of crime in DC, such as truancy?

PIRRO: I honestly am not concerned about why they commit crimes. My concern is if they commit crimes.

Just re-upping this, because allegedly non-opinion news reporting like this helps power things like Trump deploying ICE to the National Mall.

Of COURSE people think crime is always up if articles on epic DECLINES race to make it clear you should "STiLl bE ScAReD!" w confusing frames.
Why are Americans so afraid of crime, even as it plummets?

Because this is the second paragraph of the CBS News take on it.

SECOND PARAGRAPH starts with a “but” that defies comprehension (what does “every 25.9 seconds” mean in a nation of 320M?), but seems scary!

SECOND PARAGRAPH.

NEW from me: The GOP megabill will add $171 billion to immigration enforcement and ICE, a gigantic sum that'll pour funds into a vast network of detention + hire thousands of ICE agents and fund sheriffs.

I talked to an expert on just what to expect:

How the GOP Megabill Would Turbocharge Local Immigration Enforcement - Bolts
Congress is poised to pour tens of billions of dollars into more immigration detention, private jails, and border operations, plus new ICE partnerships with local police and sheriffs.

I’ve been wondering:

Where are these 10,000 officers going to come from? Local PDs currently have lots of vacancies, even w lots of added perks.

Is ICE going to set the bar really low? That’s bad.

Or is it just going to cannibalize local PDs? That only reallocates police, doesn’t expand total #.
Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill” will supercharge ICE kidnappings: 10,000 new ICE agents. 100,000 new detention beds.

“You think we're arresting people now?” says Trump’s border czar. “Wait till we get the funding."
ICE Kidnappings are Terrifying. Trump's Bill Will Supercharge Them
Border Czar Tom Homan: Trump's bill means billions for more ICE agents, or "boots on the ground," and 100,000 new beds for detention and deportation.

Call me crazy, but it almost seems like having a SCOTUS made up of a very-small-n highly-non-random sample of judges is not a great thing.

Expand the Court. A lot.
Since May:

Federal district courts have ruled against Trump admin 94% of the time.

Supreme Court has sided with the Trump admin 94% of the time.

A judiciary at war with itself.
