The most important post on Bluesky today
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

One port, one cable, one Europe.

This holiday, unwrap the power of one: USB-C for all.

Yes, not just phones, tablets, and laptops. In three years, every charger will be under the same tree.

Because less waste, smarter choices, mean more for everyone, all year long.

I think this is why fascists love AI art, not because it is good, but because it is bad. Not because it is original, but because it is stolen.

To make art as an expression of skill and craft and humanity reinforces humanity.

To push a button that steals art and call it your own is domination.

These are people who war against all human virtue, against dignity, against creativity, against humanity itself, wherever they find it and inside themselves most of all.

They'll tell you if you listen to them.

And if you won't listen, they'll force you to.

The Crime of Human Virtue
Sometimes it really is as simple as good vs. evil. This is one of those times. Human virtue is our great crime against the fascist project; it's also our great weapon against it.

A simple example - use and utilise. They don't mean the same thing, and when you use utilise to mean use, you diminish the intrinsic value of a word that has specific meaning - to use something in a way it wasn't originally designed or intended for.

Also, Peer Review has been broken for a long time - this is just another symptom of an entire publishing industry and system which has grown far beyond the scale it was ever (never) designed for. We're all expected to publish and read far more than is actually appropriate, with too much work.
