In the Trump era, how did Virginia pull off building America's largest offshore wind farm without a hiccup?

Republicans, the military, data centers, a mind-blowing bargain, and a "starter" wind farm made it happen...🧵

America’s biggest offshore wind farm will be online in six months
Dominion Energy’s 2.6 GW project off Virginia’s coast is progressing fast. The utility has a new, more definitive target to plug into the grid: March 2026.

So many cool collaborative conservation programs just dying on the vine right now.
Seaweed brought fishers, farmers, and scientists together. Trump tore them apart.
A Puget Sound project turned seaweed from a nuisance into a “climate-smart commodity.” That inserted it into the president’s culture wars.

It’s an uphill struggle getting people to accept that Christians can be bad people.

But the even harder truth that people urgently need to grasp in this time of Christofascism is that for some understandings of Christianity, to be a GOOD Christian is to be a BAD person.

Denial makes things worse

Sorry, to clarify, the order does not name a specific transmission line but blocks funding for *future* OSW transmission needed to meet climate law targets. There were 28 proposals from four developers in the running.

If I understand correctly, the Propel NY project is still moving ahead
NY’s Public Service Commission just voted down a major transmission line, years in the making, that was supposed to bring offshore wind power from Long Island into NYC.

Commissioners say they cannot justify charging ratepayers for the multibillion-dollar project when feds are stymying OSW

Media outlets can't pivot to AI to save themselves. It's not a business strategy and it's not going to work. The only path forward is for journalists to lean into their humanity, to do things AI can't, and to make clear they are writing for people, not algorithms:

AI is not going to save media companies, and forcing journalists to use AI is not a business model.

Meanwhile New Haven permitted 5,700 homes. Talk about an imbalance of epic proportions
