Programmer art.
My favorite artifact in the "you don't need AI to do art" discourse is, of course, screenwriter Dan O'Bannon's sketch of the facehugger to explain it to Giger.

ICE has been holding a disabled Black man for a year!

Rodney Taylor is a double amputee who was days away from receiving new prosthetic legs when ICE took him.

He’s been denied his prosthetics & placed in solitary.

His health is declining.

Public outrage might save his life.

Say his name:
Sign the Petition
Demand the Release of Rodney Taylor from ICE Detention

The average citizen of Minneapolis has shown several orders of magnitude more courage than Schumer, and with far more at risk
Majority of the country now wants to abolish and/or dismantle ICE and yet Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. told the caucus the message had to be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

Once again it looks like Schumer is about to choke after getting a massive opportunity.

So pathetic and weak.
Senate Democrats plot strategy as DHS standoff deepens heading into shutdown week
Two sources who were on a Democratic caucus strategy call Sunday said Minority Leader Chuck Schumer told the group the message must be to “restrain, reform and restrict ICE.”

It would be logistically difficult to work on a collaborative project without VC, but for my own work I find it a creative liability to always be able to seamlessly backtrack. Friction and stickiness can be good.
Every so often I hear of indie studios working without version control systems, and I am shocked and appalled. This is seriously dangerous and you should stop immediately and get your shit sorted. Perforce or GitHub are right there, they're free for small teams, go use them NOW.

Something I've felt aware of re: Minneapolis is how much more motivated people are to fight for those in their own community. That's not a criticism of Minnesotans, who are risking 1000x more than I ever have. I just wonder if there's a way to make people like Diaz less distant and abstract.
As we grieve for Alex Pretti and Renee Good in MN, please do not forget Victor Manuel Diaz, who died in ICE custody after being taken from here. And all others who have died in their custody.
36-year-old Nicaraguan national Victor Manuel Diaz died in ICE custody on Jan. 14 at Camp East Montana in El Paso.

The Texas Nicaraguan Community on FB reports that his mom last heard from him on Jan. 6, when he told her he was planning to go to Minneapolis to start work in a restaurant. 1/3

I can't put into words the feeling of watching our government, a hive of evil antisocial filth, the absolute worst humanity has to offer, colliding with the best. Ordinary people trying to help each other, risking everything to stand up for what's plainly, unambiguously fair and right. It's unreal

Genuinely the only thing keeping me going—but it really is keeping me going—is how good it is to see people link arms and push for this to end.

I cannot stop thinking about how much love people can have for their neighbors, and how much work and money is poured into breaking that love apart.
