every single successful general strike in US history has had union backing through the local AFL-CIO

this is the first time it’s been called for since the 1940s

we're in a situation where everyone apparently has to fucking play pretend about the dynamic between elected officials and state force and endure not only nothing being done to protect constituents, but still also actively contributing to their harm

I guess one clarifying aspect of the regime's occupation of Minneapolis is that *no one* is coming to save us. No elected officials will protect you against the lawless thugs marauding around your streets. They won't even pretend to offer help.

They will hold indignant press conferences though.

No, actually.

We meant it when we said “defund the police.”

And we mean it when we say “abolish ICE.”
Let’s talk about abolishing ICE.

Very few people who say “abolish ICE” mean “abandon all immigration enforcement.” Rather, they mean “the structure of immigration enforcement is irretrievably broken and needs to be reorganized, just like we did 23 years ago when we created ICE.”

It absolutely matters.
Reality: Even if every Dem voted "no," it still would have passed. I understand the anger, but it actually doesn't matter.

People really don’t understand how bad Minnesota is at this point. The news is openly discussing the federal plans to use old Amazon prime facilities in places like Woodbury and other suburbs as fascist detention centers.

We are fully through the glass and people need to fully take in that reality

This is bigger than stopping ICE/ CBP or passing a law. It's about how both parties have allowed law enforcement to run the country, determine every policy, spend profligately, and lobby endlessly all on the taxpayer's dime.

This should be a national shutdown
Unions and community orgs are calling for a Minnesota-wide shutdown in 10 days to protest the ferocious assault by federal immigration agents. They're saying on Jan 23, no work, no school, no shopping. SEIU Local 26, UNITE HERE Local 17, & others are supporting, w/ more to join. By me, Amie Stager

I think we are sadly past the “turn down the temperature” point. Now that just means “give Trump time to consolidate power.”
WELKER: Do you bear any responsibility to bring down the temperature?

FREY: Of course. But I dropped an F bomb and they killed somebody. I think the killing somebody is the inflammatory element here and not the F bomb.

ohhhhh so none of them know yet that they’re not getting $50K after tax withholding, do they
I just found out last night that the $50k enrollment bonus only pays out after 5 years of service, and reader, the laugh I let out when I read that woke the dog from across the house. These absolute fucking grapes aren't seeing a dime of that money. No way they can ride out 5 years of this job.
ICE recruitment is going well.
