So I wanted to do a proper holiday gift book rec thread, but it's just been intensely busy (note to self: never have a deadline around Christmas again), so I'm just going to sort of haphazardly list some books I really loved this year and who I think they would make great gifts for! Here we go...

We survived the year-turning! Woohoo!!!

Naming the new year is kind of a big deal in THE LAST HOUR BETWEEN WORLDS. I've had chats with friends about what they'd name the year and I think my favorite suggestion was the Year of Delicious Pastries (technically it shoud be 1 word, but shhhhh pastries).

Scrolling a bit here tells me a couple things:
1. Everyone's reactive right now
2. It is easier to yell at people you agree with on 90% of things than it is to engage with people who you flat out disagree with (I'm not saying you should!)
3. Nothing is resolved by said yelling, but it is exhausting

Blows my mind that some of the same journalists who see Trump as a want-to-be dictator at home are earnestly discussing the "challenges" for this same man to "bring democracy" to a country it just illegal invaded. Please grow up.

Your reps DO care about reelection. They may not understand much, but they understand access to power and how they lose it.

Hearing from their constituents in force will force them to care. Stop accepting the inevitable.

Fun fact—Venezuela oil reserves are the largest in the world—larger than all Middle East countries…. And just today post invasion, Trump says U.S. oil companies will go into Venezuela and 'start making money for the country'. That was the plan all along.

Caine, in what happened when the military invaded Maduro’s compound: “On arrival into the target area, the helicopters came under fire, and they replied to that fire with overwhelming force in self-defense.”
