Big nerd, bigger heart. Must love democracy, dogs and cake.
WE ALREADY KNOW WHERE THEY STAND YOU FUCKING IDIOTS. THATS WHY WE VOTES FOE YOU GUYS TO FIGHT THEM.
Steve Inskeep: You think the Republicans voting with you here will not only agree to these measures, but actually try to do something if the administration ignores them?

Sen Cortez Masto: If they go back on their word, then the American public will know where the Republicans stand.

The fact that not a single member of the Senate Dem caucus has called for Schumer to be replaced shows you how deep the rot is. This includes Sanders and Warren.

“There’s no real appetite to oust Schumer, though. Nor is there any interest from another Democrat to challenge him, according to interviews with more than a dozen Democratic senators.” @punchbowlnews.bsky.social

Oh Sen Dems are not in disarray - they are in array - in their collective cowardice.

Shots fired.
President Trump won’t forget John Fetterman’s vote to end the shutdown on Republican terms. The senator can expect a full pardon the next time he pulls a gun on a black jogger.

Nancy Pelosi was a groundbreaking Speaker, but she was too focused on getting Democrats to respect the will of their voters.

80% of Democratic voters want a new leader in the Senate.

Does that matter at all to Democratic senators?

We should start by taking healthcare away from Republican members of Congress, since they feel it’s a “fake economy” anyway
Comer: "This is a fake economy. You can't have 1/3 of America receiving some type of free government healthcare and then have another 1/3 that's getting a subsidized rate. That falls on the final 1/3 that's having to pay increased premiums."

These 5 people could caucus with the Democrats, giving them a majority & firmly opposing the fascism, any time. It might be nice for an enterprising journalist to ask them why they keep not doing this every day as the crimes & corruption continue & John Thune refuses to fulfill his oath of office.
🚨 The Senate votes 52-48 to overturn President Trump's 50 percent tariffs on Brazil. 5 GOP Senators break ranks to vote against Trump: Collins ME, McConnell KY, Murkowski AK, Paul KY, and Tillis NC.

After millions of people took to the streets, and a resounding nationwide electoral sweep, Democrats clearly had no other option in the Senate but to utterly capitulate to the Republicans.

Chuck Schumer is a miserable failure
Great job, @schumer.senate.gov. You've changed the story from "GOP hurting millions of Americans to please unpopular, failing, delusional despot who's destroying his party" to "Dems are too weak and divided in the face of Trump's strength to take a stand and protect Americans"

A 40 day shutdown for nothing. I’m so fucking angry for all of the federal workers who’ve gone without pay that Democrats just stabbed in the back.

the Democrats have lost MattY, Chait, even fucking Chris Cilizza on this cave

as far as I can tell the entire list of people in or around Democratic politics who think this vote was a good idea consists of the people who took the vote and whoever else in the caucus silently supported them
"Democrats could have held the line on the shutdown, and spent weeks watching Trump’s approval ratings fall," writes @jonathanbchait.bsky.social
Instead, he argues, they're making a mistake by giving in:

Yep:

"Caving as they were winning the fight, and as Trump abuses power to hurt regular people (withholding SNAP benefits, canceling flights) supposedly as 'punishment' for the shutdown, sets a nightmare precedent."
Yup, and the damage isn’t so much in the story as in the proof of weakness. Trump now knows he has new torture tools to make Dems do what he wants. It’s why at least one of the 7 capitulators oughta be run out of office now, mid session. Get that number down to 6. www.offmessage.net/p/16-thought...

I would LOVE to see AOC primary Schumer and beat the pants off of him.
The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

Democrats only had 12 hours to...

1. Hold steady and force Trump to fund SNAP through an already issued court order or defy the court order illegally.

2. Slit their own throats and bleed out all over their constituents for the promise of some magic beans.
