What do I know about anything? I am still mad about the Punic Wars.

Nobody seems to remember the poem.

The moment that you think it's okay to sacrifice other groups is the moment that you begin your own destruction.

Now is the time to stand up, before nobody is left to help you.

95% of Maine homicides happening outside the state's large urban areas is a pretty remarkable stat that, among other things, gives the lie to Maine GOP messaging, paranoia and propaganda. #MEpolitics

Voter fraud is extremely rare. In Maine, everyone has to prove their identity when registering. It’s also a felony for noncitizens to vote.

This isn’t about “election integrity.” It’s about making it as hard as possible for people to cast a ballot.

Why? They know it's the only way they can win.
The Myth of Voter Fraud
Extensive research reveals that fraud is very rare. Yet repeated, false allegations of fraud can make it harder for millions of eligible Americans to participate in elections.

I was told by a very aggressive man just after the ceasefire was signed that ceasefires are not meant to stop these incidents, but that Isreal will occasionally fire and that is fine, it's meant to reduce it.

Seems the smug arrogant bastard was wrong twice.

Yesterday was such a horrible day for Maine and today people continue to live in fear in our cities & towns. You wouldn’t know by the talking points but ICE hasn’t left.

And Mainers are and continue to organize.

After starting a few 'books' on history that were just timelines (this could have been a Wikipedia article). I have found one that is perfection

@ahpodany.bsky.social has written the most intimate book that I have read on ancient people. It is of a world that is rich and vibrant and real

Know what's pro-growth and deregulatory? Universal healthcare and UBI. Zoning and permitting reform. Urban densification and public transportation infrastructure.

Do any of these people want to do this? Absolutely not.
Ezra Klein's Abundance movement is getting some backup: A new political group is urging Democrats to embrace "pro-growth," deregulatory policies with an eye toward 2028, according to plans first shared with Axios.
Exclusive: Centrist Dems strike back with new group
It's the latest effort by moderate Democrats to shape national politics and expand their influence.

The AI book discourse is diving me crazy.

I love books. I love authors. AI needs to stay out of the book space.

Writing is hard. Creating worlds is hard. I love every person that does or tries actual writing.

Dems will run a centrist and he’ll win by a hair. His unremarkable term will be followed in 2032 by a new fascist regime of such malignancy we’ll weep to see it. Four nightmarish years punctuated by small wins later it’ll be the most important election of our lives, on and on, until we tear it down.

I got a text asking for a survey for my state's election.

The first question was my DOB. What kind of survey needs my DOB? I asked who they were with and they gave me a generic answer about 'study'. No group or name or affiliation.

Keep your eyes out.

on the balance i think partisan gerrymandering is bad but the only way it ends is if democrats weaponize it against republicans everywhere they can. wiping out republican lawmakers in blue states might bring the GOP to the table to end the practice.

Maybe it’s just me, but I suspect lots of women are not as shocked by the Epstein story as men because we’ve been dealing with and living in rape culture since we were children. A thing to think about if you are a man policing women’s responses to this story for appropriate levels of outrage

PSA: This is not how real men behave.
This is the Yale professor's explanation for why he described the physical attractiveness of a student in an email to Epstein. He explicitly says he regrets nothing about their association.

Again, I'm so happy Yale hired David Brooks to restore trust.
