Herding cats until the waveform collapses.

Mostly harmless, but do note that both my grandfathers killed fascists. GenX. Слава Україні. Meese is still a pig.

There is truly more that unites us than divides us, by which I mean “everyone in this country wants to carve Pete Hegseth up and serve him tableside and half of them are saying it on television”

An easy way to explain luddites:

Textile manufacturers brought in machines that could do in an hour what would have taken 12 hours by hand.

And then, tried to keep paying the now 12x more productive workers the same wages as before.

That's it, that was the problem luddites had. Not complex.

Today is World AIDS day, and the current US govt refuses to acknowledge it, for the first time since 1988. Here’s a memory I’d like to share, to show how in even the worst of times, people came together to support each other. May the memory of those we lost continue to be a blessing.

All of this. Write. Make. Create. Try. KEEP TRYING. Do new things. BE new things. Reinvent yourself every second Tuesday. Reinvent Tuesdays. Change your *name* to Tuesday. There is no age limit on becoming more than you once were, loving more than you once could, or being happier and more fulfilled!
Fuck that noise, do it even if you're old. I learned tattooing at 43. I learned editing and publishing at 46.

There is always still time to do or learn new stuff.
I'm old.

If you're not, listen to this.

Get a guitar or some drums, or a trumpet. Pick up a brush, a pencil, some clay or a welder.

Just make shit. It doesn't have to be good (eventually it will be) just make music, art or write or whatever.

It's literally never been more important.

Hey #RightToRepair activists, they are trying to hobble the military Right to Repair legislation that's moving thru the approval process. Bother your legislators about this!
Scoop: Provisions of the NDAA that would ensure military members’ right to repair their own equipment are set to be removed from the funding act, replaced by language that will require the military to pay subscription fees to defense contractors via “data-as-a-service.”

The US Military Wants to Fix Its Own Equipment. Defense Contractors Are Trying to Shoot That Down
A push by military contractors could alter pending legislation that would have empowered servicemembers to repair equipment. Lobbyists are pitching a subscription service instead.

LIBRARIES MAKE BOOKS ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE, she shouts, apparently inaudibly

WHY DO THESE "YOU'RE A CLASS TRAITOR" PEOPLE KEEP PRETENDING LIBRARIES DON'T EXIST?

ARE THEY CLASS TRAITORS WHO DON'T BELIEVE IN LIBRARIES?
Just saw someone claim that authors who want to be paid for their work are "class traitors" because we "only let the wealthy" read our books, and I think I need to go into the woods to scream into the night for a bit.

It's $5, not your first-born child! I need that $5 for health insurance!

Look at people in knitting, who are currently waging a desperate battle against these genAI assholes.
