Christopher Nolan Bullitt remake
If you were a despotic president, what movie would you force Hollywood to make? I want to see Quentin's Star Trek movie or maybe Kill Bill Vol 3.

I see a lot of people saying ham is for Easter dinner but you are all incorrect and should be doing lamb for Easter dinner. It's relatively easy, delicious, and has connections all the way back to Passover traditions that Christ would have been partaking in around that time of year.

Try the lamb.

I feel like JD's about to have his "Ned Stark as Robert lays dying" opportunity to shoot his shot and consolidate power before the 2028 MAGA succession wars.

As both a former SOUTHCOM staffer and GFMer (but not at the same time), "SOUTHCOM won this round" are not words I ever expected to see conjoined.
SOUTHCOM won this round, they got the Iwo Jima ARG, the ARG needed to rotate out for maintenance etc, they pulled in the Ford on its way back from High North. And they’ll get bored again and then another crisis will happen and we go to the big board to spin the wheel on SDOBarama again

MAGA is about to discover and embrace Article 37.
BREAKING: After ICE refuses to allow detained migrants to receive the Eucharist, Pope Leo calls on Trump and Vance to respect migrants‘ dignity and religious liberty.

“They must allow ministers to assist with their needs. They've been separated from their families and no one knows what happens.”

Recent events have led me to conclude that SecDef and the rest of the administration have a very poor understanding of Naval force generation.

I think about all the times Palmer Luckey came to speak and was warmly received at the Eisenhower School, and I'll file this under "Be Careful What You Wish For, DoD".
Not unrelated to the federal government's (and especially the military's) large AI push but the 2026 military funding bill will put technology/software buying and deploying at the whim of the Secretary of Defense and bypasses traditional testing/effectiveness/cost efficiency bench marking.
The Department of Defense Wants Less Proof its Software Works
When Congress eventually reopens, the 2026 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) will be moving toward a vote. This gives us a chance to see the priorities of the Secretary of Defense and his Cong...

This one has it all... Ship name, geographic name, and classic naval negligence. 10/10; no notes.
29 Oct 1808 // 24-gun 6th-rate HMS Banterer was wrecked in the Saint Lawrence River off Point Mille Vache due to negligence by the officer of the watch, who had left the deck in order to drink grog in the gunroom, and the acting master, who had failed to use the lead-line. #RoyalNavy #NavalHistory

pleased to note that I can operate my bed without *either* AWS or GitHub
The AWS outage bricked people's $2,700 smartbeds, leaving them in a reclining position or with the heat up. People were unable to use them, basically. A GitHub repo exists that lets people operate their beds without reliance on the normal infrastructure

The AWS Outage Bricked People’s $2,700 Smartbeds
When Amazon Web Services went offline, people lost control of their cloud-connected smart beds, getting stuck in reclined positions or roasting with the heat turned all the way up.

I agree with this, and I would also argue this is true(-ish) for American Civics education at the scholastic level. For various reasons, there's been a tendency to embrace the complexity of the American experiment prior to introducing the foundational model.
But I think, "have no foundational model, embrace complexity" doesn't work in an intro world history survey: these are deeply foreign social structures to students, they need to have their intuition about them 'reset' and you have to start on the ground floor with a simple model and then build up.

This redirection is rather elegantly done. Take it in video form to FB and TikTok. Dangle the pop-culture bait and then set the hook hard.

By refusing to swear in Adelita Grijalva, the 218th vote to release the Epstein files, the Speaker is blocking the next step.

anyways I think "World War II soldiers sucked, actually" is bad history and really bad activism.

It pisses me off, frankly. My grandad was a Marine in Saipan and Okinawa. He came back to Georgia and raised 4 kids, including my Dad, who all became deeply liberal on race.
