These perceived imperatives have formed an unholy alliance, from the perspective of transgender people, who find themselves in an increasingly inhospitable environment. Justice Alito has acknowledged “the discrimination” and “disadvantage[]” facing the transgender community today. Skrmetti at 577. It also is of great concern, for those who value the separation of church and state, to see the Department of Justice cavalierly blurring the lines. See also, e.g., press releases dated Sept. 9, and Sept. 30, 2025 (second and third hearings regarding “threats to religious liberty in education,” which ‒ of course ‒ included matters of gender transition). 3 The Court is uncertain whether the general public is aware of how broad the government’s campaign is against transgender people. In January 2025, alone, executive orders rescinded protections for LGBTQ+ people in federal employment and education; reinstated moves to ban transgender people from serving in the military; barred federal funds from supporting any institution or initiative that recognizes gender fluidity; and federal agencies have purged references to gender identity from government websites and documents. Id. Much more has been done since then, and more is sure to follow. The Court does not take judicial notice of the media source, it is offered only by way of background.

In a horrifying article about the dangers of Teslas, one point stands out: Teslas automatically disengage self-driving mode <1 second before an imminent crash--not enough time for the driver to react, but enough for Tesla to deny responsibility for fatal crashes, since self-driving "wasn't engaged."
The real surprise came after the experiment. Fred Lambert, who writes for the blog Electrek, pointed out the same autopilot disengagement that the NHTSA had documented. “Autopilot appears to automatically disengage a fraction of a second before the impact as the crash becomes inevitable,” Lambert noted.

China has millions of people who migrate around the country to work in factories as Apple revs up production around a new iPhone. They often work from the summer until Chinese New Year, when production slows down, so Apple's suppliers don't have to pay them for a full year of work. They live in dormitories connected to factories

I like how the French implement cheap daylighting of intersections without relocating the drainage line, simply by installing a small, raised curb extension detached from the sidewalk, accompanied by bollards to deter the most daring drivers.
