If you're looking for a way to help Palestinians in Gaza, here is one:
A simple ask: click “weekly” a coffee or whatever spare change that you find disappearing every once in a while. And today we'll MATCH (!!!) up to £450 / $600.

Across the two hundred people who've pledged around this, it's shelter, surgeries, food for six families. chuffed.org/project/hope...
Keep Hope Alive: a Gaza Giving Circle
We are a team of volunteers in the US and UK, led by two sisters passionate about helping our friends on the ground keep their families and neighbors alive with food, water, & shelter. We saw that…

Thank you to all who supported RTÉ 2XM and its sister stations - and here's hoping the spirit of creation and service, that represents the best of what public media can be, can find new and different homes within RTÉ radio as it heads for its centenary.

I hope it is now obvious why pillars of democracy like universities, the law, public broadcasting should be funded so that they are beyond the reach of financial coercion by hostile agents.

The home of the O'Donovan family is being used as a polling station in Coolmoyne, Co Tipperary. Around 250 people are eligible to vote at the house and after they cast their ballot, they will be treated to a cup of tea, a slice of apple or rhubarb tart, or a scone | More: rte.ie/b/1540324

"I once met a former bodyguard of one billionaire with his own "bunker", who told me his security team's first priority, if this really did happen, would be to eliminate said boss and get in the bunker themselves. And he didn't seem to be joking."
Tech billionaires seem to be doom prepping. Should we be worried?

A grim reminder: these people will never be satisfied. There’s no point at which they will say “we’ve won, let’s enjoy life.” They will always be looking for someone else to punish, to revile, to dehumanize. They’re empty without that.

It is amazing that most organizations (businesses, media, NGOs, political parties) that worried about the threat of the far right for decades have spent no time or energy to thinking how to operate in a far right world. They just continue to do the same and are surprised by a different outcome.

Remember when various world leaders were saying they would recognise a Palestinian state in September?
This is why.
In a few days or weeks, there won't be a Palestine left to recognise. This was always the end-game.
Israel has started a ground offensive around Gaza City after days of bombing and artillery fire, with many Palestinians forced to flee to escape the warfare.

Barely an hour ago, Palestinian journalist Anas Al-Sharif warned us all:

“If this madness doesn’t end, Gaza will be reduced to ruins, its people’s voices silenced, their faces erased — and history will remember you as silent witnesses to a genocide you chose not to stop.”

Israel just killed him.

IEA's mid-year electricity review is out. Some highlights below:

First time in 100 years, renewables are set to overtake coal in global electricity production as soon as this year (or latest next year).

Wind + Solar contribution to global grid mix will reach 20% by 2026, up from 4% in 2016.

Don't let yourself be gaslit into believing that opposing genocide is wrong.
We are right.
They are wrong.

Some may think this reminder is unnecessary, but the gaslighting has been going on for almost 2 years and it is not letting up. They're trying to make us doubt our own moral compass. Don't.

Democracy dies not only in darkness, but in cynicism.

When people lose faith in electoral politics as a vehicle for change, or start preaching purist extremism that indicts coalition building, they opt out.

That makes it so much easier for autocrats to plow right on in.
