NEW—Earlier this evening agents from ICE/other fed agencies were outside Rhode Island Ave metro in DC asking people exiting the station for their IDs, per someone who experienced it. When the person presented their Real ID license, an agent said that wasn't sufficient. Luckily they had secondary ID.

Not to state the obvious, but none of them were sent to a terrorist prison in El Salvador. They all had lawyers, indictment by grand jury, a trial or a guilty plea where a judge ensured it was knowing & voluntary & access to an appeals process. In other words, all the hallmarks of due process.

Today, on filing day, I will tell you, the Bluesky audience, the thing that I most wish the public knew, on this filing day, and it is this: No one cares that you extended. No one cares. Not me, not your mom, not your dad, not the IRS, not no one. Its not an audit black mark, its fine.

I love the argument that we have to hold students to strict deadlines because there are no extensions in the real world.

Actually, in the real world everything is negotiable. There are no deadlines.

I hope he quotes “I, Too”

“Besides,
They’ll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed—

I, too, am America.”
Sen. Booker just quoted the Langston Hughes poem "Let America Be America Again"

"America never was America to me,
And yet I swear this oath—
America will be!"

A fun thing about reporting like this is when the White House doesn’t ever bother denying or quibbling with literally anything in the reporting and then sends an on the record comment, that also doesn’t deny anything or even hedge

Okay huge ask/question. Do I know anyone in the Baltimore area who could store a ~10ft shark sculpture for me? I was supposed to go pick it up this month but my schedule has gotten chaotic. I could pick it up later in the spring or early summer 👀

It should fit in a mini van or Suburban for transit

The cancellation of the lifesaving assistance for starving kids abroad is really a galling one. This stuff was grown by American farmers and manufactured by American workers. This spreading of American bounty and good will long had bipartisan support.

Republicans have been out to gut Social Security for years because it’s one of the most popular and successful programs ever created.

Those who claim to care about the debt while pushing for trillions in tax cuts for the rich and corporations don't really care about the debt. Hello?
Unelected billionaire Elon Musk attacks social security, which keeps millions of seniors out of poverty, as “the biggest Ponzi scheme of all time”
