Making camouflage nets for the War Department, Manzanar Relocation Center, Manzanar, Calif. Dorothea Lange, 1942

In 1942, Lange was commissioned to photograph the U.S. Government’s imprisonment of Japanese Americans. Her negatives were impounded by the Army; she did not see them until 1964.

Paisley was 18 years and 1 month old on VE Day. Thatcher was 19.5 years old.

I'll gladly piss on their graves, but not for this reason.
Rather enjoy those old Remembrance Sunday photos of Callaghan and Heath with their wartime service medals which highlight how the two flag-wavers next to them, Paisley and Thatcher, while old enough to have earned some themselves, had none.

1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

As a San Diego Wave FC supporter, I extend my admiration to the Valkyries for their position.

We may cheer for different teams, but we share the same values.
The Angel City Valkyries strongly condemn the op-ed piece from Elizabeth Eddy yesterday. We call on Angel City FC and the NWSL to take swift and forceful action against this despicable rhetoric.

The thing is, if you genuinely believed that preteen girls are old enough to be mothers while males in their thirties are too young to comprehend fascism, then you logically wouldn't trust men to be responsible for anything more consequential than a balloon animal, let alone a government

Take a picture of yourself at the No Kings rally.

Print it.

Put it in a frame.

Your grandchildren will speak about you for generations to come. You took a stand against fascism. You stood up for democracy.

My alma mater has decided to abandon its principles and go over to the fascists.

A pox upon these people.
PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!!

The University of Texas-Austin is beginning a process to eliminate the Black Studies, Latino Studies, and Gender Studies departments in the College of Liberal Arts. This is a grave threat to the educational liberty of students, faculty, staff, and the people of Texas. 1/

Here is my best guidance, rendered beautifully by the great John Lithgow. I first published these lessons nearly nine years ago, in late 2016. They open the twenty chapters of "On Tyranny: Twenty Lessons from the Twentieth Century."

Jerry Pournelle was a guest at a gaming convention in Austin sometime around '79 or '80. We had a huge table set up with a massive Sniper wargame. He sat around the table and BSed with us for a couple of hours.
Have you met any of your favorite authors? Who?

Quote post with your response!

A hero whose heroism consists of killing people is uninteresting to me, and I detest the hormonal war orgies of our visual media, the mechanical slaughter of endless battalions of black-clad, yellow-toothed, red-eyed demons.

The stupidity of forcing out tens of thousands of person-years of experience from the finest space organization in the world is doubled by the history of the US hiring thousands of lesser Soviet scientists to keep them from building rockets for third parties in order to put food on the table.
