You’ve got your Master’s thesis
I’ve got my stupid little songs
1.) The inevitability of death is what makes life special, get yer moments while you can, 2.) There’s no way that this doesn’t have in-app purchases and sudden rate increases that hold loved ones or at least the idea of them hostage, and 3.) great, more screens: the last thing we all need.
Nightmarish idea for a startup tbh

I read that phenomenal GQ profile of John Darnielle mid-afternoon and have been listening to my favorite lesser-loved Mountain Goats records ever since.

The Story John Darnielle Lived to Tell
When he was a teenager, the Mountain Goats founder never expected to live to 21. He has since become one of this century’s best songwriters. The lessons of his survival, life, and work feel endless.

A confusing, infuriating facet of the Trump administration is how much time is spent talking about things of no fucking importance that should be left alone.
Hegseth: "We don't need to be a military of beardos anymore. Do you know how many troops claim to be Nordic Pagan? No, suddenly it's become this real fake religious affiliation inside the Pentagon where troops came to be Nordic Pagan so they can grow a beard and nobody challenges them on it."

RIP Michael Ray Richardson, a troubled and gentle soul who provided two of the most memorable quotes in NBA history. Asked during the 1981-82 season about the state of his Knicks, he said, "The ship be sinkin'." Asked how far it could sink, Sugar added: "The sky's the limit." You can't make that up.

spoke with the executive director of my local food bank today and got this really incredible line: "if you donate 1 can of green beans, we can give away 1 can of green beans. but if you donate a dollar, we can give away 6 cans of green beans"

Neil's going to die someday and I don't think there's a living rocker whose passing will draw more sorrow out of my corner of culture.

I certainly won't get anything done that day.

If I had to rank 2025 albums by frontmen of bands I revere, I'd go Jeff Tweedy, Patterson Hood, Matt Berninger (though I barely remember it), ...

Craig Finn.

I hate that ESPN continues to force this loser on us (and also Trump).

Do not want. Coby's a better shooter, gives you a good enough percentage of peak Ja's production, and most importantly is immensely likable.

There's a lot of music out there. Sometimes you don't get to a classic for a while because you're loving your favs, but that just means there are probably always going to be unheard-to-you classics ready to be discovered.

The "have fun doing it part" is important, actually. Painting leadership as less grim while helping people will get more people excited. It's definitely part of why I was more invested in Mamdani than I really should be.
The exciting talent @katiewilson.bsky.social has taken a narrow lead as ballots are still being counted in the Seattle mayoral race.
