Appreciate the shoutout on Lars guitar music list of 2025. I’m in the “Is that even a guitar?” category, and yes, it is, I made the whole record with my Guild D 55 and a drum machine on my phone. 🎸❤️‍🔥😜

The non-SEO headline of this story: Our favorite Tiny Desks, from the people who make them

I asked the producers, audio engineers and videographers behind Tiny Desk to make a list, yearbook superlative style. It cute.

I’ll say this often: I never compile In Memoriam to be exhaustive, but it is long and winding. In fact, I want folks to join the chorus of musicians who meant so much to their scenes and histories — keep their names alive! I’ll do my best repost those that do.
So many folks who’ve shaped music died this year. This is a great comprehensive retrospective that’s also missing Chicago music folks such as Ron Carrol and Keith Nunnally from J.M. Silk. I wrote a few obits of more marginal local musical figures I’ll thread below.

The one and only time I've been to Seattle (to see Roadside Monument reunite, a very Seattle thing to do), this storefront felt like a warm hug before a redeye flight.
After 12 wildly improbable years of high-flying good times at Sea-Tac Airport, the Sub Pop Airport Store will be closing on Dec. 31, 2025. Before we taxi off for good, come through and take some lovingly curated “junk” home with you.
