What struck me as interesting in the discussion that followed is how many white people were told that DEI was the reason they were not hired. Yet when looking at a company's employees, we can see this is false. I have to pose this question to POC--what reason were YOU given for not being hired?
White men only make up 30% of Americans. Jacob Savage is complaining not about men getting shafted but mostly about them now losing the privilege of mediocrity and being fairly represented in more and more industries. Now they have to be good at the job to get hired and promoted. Oh the unfairness!
Anyway, the TL;DR on this is basically, "white men are expected to be good at their professions now to be hired, get wealth, & advance to prestigious positions & that's discrimination. And it's diversity's fault!"
