Elbow greaser. Co-host of the Queen City Improvement Bureau, Destroy All Culture and Just Drawn That Way. Co-creator of The Graveyard Tapes. Other bits and bobs. If you know me, I never miss a Life Day. He/him.
Start it off with the camera travelling over a field of wreckage, slowly coming to a stop at a promising heap. A hand emerges from the debris and Bond crawls out, Boba Fett style.

Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Andrei Rublev (1966)
About Dry Grasses (2023)
Adoption (1975)
An Actor’s Revenge (1963)
All That Jazz (1979)

And that’s just from the A’s.
What is the best movie not from this year that you’ve seen this year? Bonus points if you say why

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

If you look at Pluribus as a broad metaphor for the widespread adoption of generative AI and how insane it feels to see everyone around you adopt this cognitively murderous technology, then the show feels... relevant.

Pluribus is clearly about America’s debilitating fear of becoming Canada.

Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

There are other ghosts than the Cock-Lane one, and far deeper men than Doctor Johnson who believe in them.

I tried developing colour film today. The first roll didn't turn out at all. The second had a couple of passable images though. I have six or seven more rolls to develop tomorrow, so here's hoping. East side of the Albert Street underpass, shot with Phoenix II on a Fujica GS645.

This is just to say
That I stole the wallet
Of a traveller from an antique land
Who would not shut up about
Some inscription in the desert
And some stupid dead king

Forgive me
He was so boring
And sententious
And travelling

Man goes to doctor. Says his ego is out of control. Doctor says "Look on works of Ozymandias and despair". Man bursts into tears. Says, "But doctor, my name is Ozymandias, King of Kings".
My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings. Look on my works, especially that one. Proud of that, took me ages.
