Hello BSky! I'm a #GameDev refugee from the Ex-bird site. You might be familiar with my previous work on World of Warcraft or Hearthstone. I'm most proud of the Mists of Pandaria expansion and development of the Hearthstone Dungeon Run. I also co-founded GameSpy - anyone else that old? :)

Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.
I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Holiday table-top discovery: Richard Garfield’s “King of Tokyo,” a giant monster smash of a game from 2011. We enjoyed the short (half hour) playtimes and the surprising depth of decisions for such a simple ruleset. The illustrations are great. #tabletop #boardgames #rawr #gogogodzilla

I was thinking about what gifts people used to give to readers (besides gift editions of famous poets' work and illustrated histories of wars and such), and while I was thinking about it, somebody brought a book to the counter....

Some perspective on why we creatives need to pay more attention to what’s happening in romance publishing:
So I am going to say something about romance as a genre.

For yrs I've pondered a paradox:
1) The fact that crunch is poisonous to creative work
2) The fact that many of my favorite games were made with crunch
My answer:
Crunch allows a team to naively reach a crucial creative state, at high personal cost.

Wish I'd taken the time to figure out @oskarstalberg.bsky.social's dual grid concept earlier. It simplifies everything so much while also enabling nicer tile shapes.
In short: instead of designing tiles, design the boundary slices between them.
