Same people who think atheists must be going around committing violent crimes all the time because we don't have the threat of Hell stopping us. They're so bewildered when we tell them that we do precisely as much violent crime as we want--which is none.

Been very cold but Somali restaurant offers us delicious, warm tea constantly.
Members expressed much gratitude & confidence this ugly time will pass.

Talked to a Somali man today who said his mosque last night was surrounded by neighbors ready to protect them against ICE if needed. Made me feel proud to live in this city.

I kinda wish all the people who think most Americans are ripe and ready for openly socialist candidates would spend even an hour reading comments on Facebook. Yes, some of those accounts are bots and trolls, but millions aren't.

Basically every militia chud and Rambo cosplayer has probably already signed up for ICE--or tried to--at this point. They'll probably keep growing for a bit, but it's not like there's been some surge of millions.

Agreed. A few years back, I was visiting family in a much less diverse suburb in another state. Took my kid to an indoor playground and wondered why things felt off. Then I clocked it: all white people.
I realise I'm just a freak, but living in a multicultural city is the best thing of all time, it's just the best possible human experience and i can not understand why anyone on earth would be like "weve got to destroy this"

—protect abortion rights
—repeal the same-sex marriage ban
—allow mid-decade redistricting
—greatly expand voting rights restoration.
These will all go to 2026 referendums.
