Just completed my third (and final) playthrough of Metroid Prime 4.
It's not a masterpiece. But it's fine. It's perfectly fine. The hyperbolic hype of calling it a disaster is just internet sensationalism. But that's just the way people have to feel when a game has 8 years of development hell.
