Asheville is THE crunchiest hippie city in North Carolina. There was a huge chickenpox outbreak at a local private school in 2019 because 72% of the students were unvaccinated. And the Asheville airport is not a huge regional hub, so this was probably a local calling him this. IN FUCKING ASHEVILLE.

Charlotte is a boring, gentrified city built around the banking sector that has gotten increasingly more safe as long as I have been alive. It doesn't even have the biggest immigrant population in N.C.

Men who treat their women colleagues like normal human beings get most of the benefits of being included in the sisterhood while not really having to give up any of their male privilege.
It's like a fucking cheat code and you're still lucky if 20% of the dudes in a given workplace will use it.

This is why neutral legal language is not necessarily positive. Because the original purpose of the Equal Treatment Rule was to prevent grocery retailers from charging SNAP customers MORE for similar items than they would charge to cash paying customers.
The USDA sent an email to grocery stores telling them they are prohibited from offering special discounts to customers affected by the SNAP funding lapse.
I'm aware of at least 2 stores that had offered struggling customers a discount, then withdrew it after receiving this email

It’s hard to convey just how much Chicagoans are mobilizing against ICE. Don’t want to downplay the harm, or make it seem like a fair fight. But in neighborhoods across this city, ICE is getting chased by people blowing whistles and shouting. People are running TOWARD ICE to protect their neighbors.

It's also a fucking Totenkopf, which is arguably one of the most famous symbols of Nazism behind the swastika. It's the equivalent of saying you didn't realize burning crosses is associated with the KKK because you are only familiar with the pointy white hoods.
The thing that really gets me about the Platner tattoo is his response on the Pod Save America podcast (to a VERY generous interviewer) seemed mostly focused on "well no one ever told me it was a Nazi tattoo" instead of taking ownership and being horrified to learn he has a Nazi tattoo.

As a White American who grew up in rural North Carolina, I would like to proclaim that Diwali is the perfect holiday. You get fireworks AND copious amounts of Indian food. Also, jalebi beats the shit out of funnel cake.

I 100% agree that protesting alone is not enough but 7 million people showed up on Saturday. In all 50 states. In big cities and small towns.
