The reality is that 2024 was a fundamental test of the moral character of the nation and we failed spectacularly. We’re living with the consequences now. Maybe we improve. I hope so.

Funny how the right is outraged at Fanone flipping off a congressman just days after celebrating a president flipping off a working American .

This is an awful way to run a campaign. But Texas redistricted, so…

She should have future on tv. Should. We’ll see if she gets that chance.
i do not understand why she gave up a sure thing in the house... for this
Ill try to make this the last Texas Senate Primary post but like the Crockett campaign is insane. They haven’t spent any money on ads yet with the primary only a month away, and she hopes to win Texas and “expand” the electorate by…only focusing on Dems?

Los Angeles is almost certainly the worst governed major blue city in the entire country at this point
L.A. Metro, the main transit operator for Los Angeles, just voted to oppose SB 79, a law legalizing the construction of housing near stations. You can't make this stuff up. Legislators should remember this the next time they come to Sacramento begging for more money.

FFS, that didn't take long.

(To be clear, I'm not blaming @orinkerr.bsky.social, who cited and discussed the same two SCOTUS cases I did in reference to the ICE memo)

American evangelicalism has been morphing into a lifestyle brand for authoritarian identity politics for at least 50 years. It’s had little recognizable connection to the “ethics and teachings of Jesus” at any point in my lifetime.
The Christian fundamentalists and evangelicals aligning with ICE are “prying Christianity further and further away from the ethic and teachings of Jesus,” Peter Wehner argues.
MAGA Jesus Is Not the Real Jesus
Trump is causing incalculable damage to the Christian faith, yet most evangelicals will never break with him.

You could make some kind of case for all of this military activity. And there’s a lot. But you can’t square it with campaign rhetoric. Trump won votes telling voters Harris would do this stuff and he would not.

Most of the moral messaging in children's television programming when I was a kid was utterly uncontroversial at the time, and would be attacked as woke indoctrination today.

This is why sanctuary city policies exist. If police do this stuff, people won’t trust police.
From my hometown of Forest Lake: "Ice is working with Forest Lake police. Police are asking apartment complexes for access to buildings for 'possible medical emergencies' shortly after they requested that ice was in my building knocking on doors."

CA being crazy expensive and having an unworkable bureaucracy is responsible for a good chunk of Democrats PR problems and its part of the bad word of mouth carried over to the more purple states people moved to. This is why, among many reasons, a Newsom prez run is a bad idea

The amusing part is that Shapiro's political advantage is that he wasn't governor during any challenging periods including the BLM protests or COVID. And at least so far, hasn't been really challenged by Trump via ICE.
Is it too much to ask that the federal government should know who the governor of Pennsylvania in 2021 was?

Thousands of affordable homes could have been built — if not for $1.2 billion in California fees
Affordable housing developers paid California cities and counties $1.2 billion in “impact fees” over four years. That money could have paid for 5,000 additional homes for low-income families.
