My store on Red Bubble IS UP! I have a special collection called "Fuck Ice", and part of the proceeds from every sale for those stickers and buttons will go to charities helping MN deal with ICE locally.

im not saying that there’s a lot of redeeming qualities to the trump era but it is nice that the lib-left coalition forming is basically “guys that i find palatable” and it was extremely unlikely for the chips to fall this way
the pro-globalization left is not something which existed 10 years ago. there were (non-self IDed) neoliberals of the clintonite variety who openly wanted to curtail the great society, there were marxists who wanted an internationale, but no one in the core american left

like how we perceive immigration and trade and even things like support for multilateralism is totally turned on its head. the left was associated with like anti-globalization protests a couple decades ago!

Members of congress, right now, unlike the rest of us, have a court order (and the law) saying they're allowed into ICE detention facilities whenever they want, no matter what kristi noem says. Because of that they have a unique responsibility. Don't come on social media and say "I was denied"

Slowly replace everyone in apartment building with paid agents/actors, except one guy. One of the actors becomes his friend. Offer him a “really intense trippy drug”. Take it in apartment. Totally insert substance. Various pyrotechnics and special effects around him that no one else reacts to.
there's a firm for the ultra-rich that does, among other things, recreations of the Battle of Midway for a small private audience, and honestly fine with those guys just doing their thing.
Imagine having enough money to run whatever total war game at high resolution, or commission the greatest gaming table ever created for a warhammer game, and still being unhappy? Skill issue

I understand folks are scared but I want you to think about the mechanics of this.

There are more polling places (>100k) than ICE and CBP agents combined, so they can only pick a few districts to try to intimidate.

Now what happens when cell phone footage of that goes online in the early morning?

in real terms, #7 would give states leverage to put an end to surges, #8 would give states the ability to outright stop construction of new detention facilities, #1 and #6 would slow the rate at which DHS could train and deploy officers, #2 and #10 would likely shrink the pool of recruits

But far-right voices & some on the left are using his words as evidence of how "Jews" think. A sex trafficker becomes the spokesman for all Jews.

That is the oldest move in the antisemitic playbook: find the worst example, make him representative, collectivize the guilt.

C: Right. Is it standard to give advice before learning a patient’s name?

many people are going to be tempted to say this proves the weakness of peaceful protest. this is incorrect because it assumes this happening is a failure of peaceful protest rather than the mechanism by which it succeeds
It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.

“Moltbook” is funny because while it’s an entertaining experiment, it’s one of the dumbest possible things you could do to any AI you’re relying on for actual work

LLMs are notoriously likely to “yes-and” their way into psychotic delusions, and that’s even with HUMANS on the other end

I am, uh, not an AI disliker type

but the moltbot thing is a bunch of people making terrible choices for themselves and I don't think the AI community on bsky (which is pretty great, imo) is likely to be improved by importing it
We need to get the AI people over to Bluesky - in just the last few days Clawdbot, Moltbook and Genie 3 seems like… potentially really big deals?

They’re almost my entire timeline on Twitter – virtually nothing over here. Yet surely in the long run more important than the Gorton by-election?

Now I’m personally of the view that we shouldn’t be doing aggressive immigration enforcement. But if you cared about that, you’d never pick this tactic.

“Immigration enforcement” is almost entirely pretextual here in Minnesota, an excuse to flood our communities with fear and violence.

Agree with this thread, and not to be too much of a PR Theory Of Everything gal, but like, I do think democrats clearly message testing and carefully choosing language is a huge part of this. Everything is assumed to be calculated because everything *is* calculated
I'm going to bang this drum again: a lot of the Democratic party's problems are downstream of them having no credibility with their base. Some of this is due to bad faith online criticism from lefty content farmers, but it is by no means the majority, and I'm sick of people suggesting such. 1/

the idea that it's better politically for the caucus to cave together than to have Thune have to pick off individual Dems is so fucking backwards I can barely wrap my head around it. one of these is doing the work of the enemy for them, and for what?? a bunch of regulations with no teeth?

this is a fake problem. no one is saying this to regular, offline people who are coming around. they’re saying it to people who are engaged in professional political analysis who committed professional malpractice by scolding people who saw what was coming.

no, those people shouldn’t get a break.
Bluesky idea: if people who didn't agree with you change their opinions so that they do agree with you, why not be happy that you are making progress - rather than complaining that they are "only just catching up"?

The minimal electoral argument (voting is extremely easy for you, the person reading this post, just do it) is extremely obviously true, but a lot of people have decided to believe in a turboelectoralism where (1) there are no other political actions (2) you have to respect a mandate of whoever wins

Huh. That's so crazy. I was told that it was downright irresponsible to suggest that the democratic party do something like this. That it was asking too much. That it was blaming the wrong people for inaction. Why would he do this? Why a sudden concern? I don't get it?
