I do not currently have capacity to help those struggling in war zones. I'm sorry.
Please do NOT tag me in posts about this.
I do not mean anyone any harm, but I just cannot handle it, so I will block if you tag me.
To do list for tomorrow:
Hit up both library systems I'm part of and request at least the first in series for books by @kristadb1.bsky.social, @skyladawn.ca, @klnoone.bsky.social, & @plaatsch.bsky.social. Just looked & there's either none or very little in both systems for these lovely authors.

Also, please share @tychebooks.bsky.social book posts because she is one of the few Canadian small presses left AND she pays everyone on time and in full. And people are stealing my book she published.

Don't worry about me, but maybe share Skyla's direct buy store b/c that's where she makes the absolute most money - and she has vet bills. I cannot imagine seeing an author post "I have two cats nearing the end" and go oh, I should steal from her.

Between this & the news about Tehran, I keep getting flashes from Marjorie B. Kellogg's "The Dragon Quartet" series. I should see if they're available on ebook & reread them.
Fantasy (but also heavy history & scifi elements), tackling climate change, magic, greed, & growing up.
A 25-person startup is developing technology to block the sun and turn down the planet’s thermostat.

The stakes are huge — and the company and its critics say regulations need to catch up.

10 million people. Water insecurity.

Climate change is a large chunk of this equation, which we have known about since the 1960s.
A pox on oil lobbyists for their apocalyptic decisions to sacrifice long term prosperity for short term exploitations.
Soundtrack : "Galvanize" (via local radio)
”If it doesn’t rain in Tehran by late November, we’ll have to [formally] ration water. And if it still doesn’t rain, we’ll have to evacuate Tehran.”

Tehran is running out of water. The situation is so dire that Iran's president is insisting that the capital city must relocate.

Just found this artist while rambling through feeds for more people to follow (& more shinies to appreciate!). If you like watercolor artwork, I think this one is worth looking through their history of gems.

Reading the 1st book in @kristadb1.bsky.social's, so far most excellent, Ladies Occult Society series and hit this gem:
"Of course I can drink tea," [she] said with disgust. "What am I? French?"
A very good thing I was not drinking tea at that moment, or my ereader would definitely have been damp! 🤣

Moments when I remember my pets are rescues:
Listening to French streaming radio. There's a few clips from a recent French film that has two people having an argument, fairly tense.
My pets don't know French, they both look at me with concern.
Spend a minute or so talking them down from mild panic.😅

Well, yup, hips/pelvis were definitely Messed Up.
Just did a stretch break from doing schoolwork and I've already gained about 4 inches of flexibility in my forward bend/hang. I can now touch backs of fingers to the floor comfortably without effort from standing.

This is going to be interesting. Though the cynical part of me is just waiting for the next boot to drop.

You might not have caught what just happened on the Senate floor, but the Senate just “deemed as passed” the Epstein resolution.

That means as soon as it arrives from the House, it automatically passes the Senate (with no amendments) and heads to the President’s desk.

Wow.

Finally got around to deleting my Storygraph account. Got absolutely fed up with hallucinating AI summaries with no way to opt-out. It was interesting for a brief period, but honestly, I'm terrible at book trackers. Should probably give up on them generally.

Talking to my partner as I download @kristadb1.bsky.social's books (finally) from her epic back catalog:
"I kinda think of Krista & @skyladawn.ca like the Crow Girls from Charles de Lint... not quite mafia, but if you cross them, the switchblades come out." 😅

Little moments, a sampling:
A sweet pitbull at the dog park, sweater reads "Thing 1" (Dr. Seuss)
Ash trees along the street shed their golden leaves en masse - carpet of sunshine
Morning sunlight through the side window, the cat watches the world from her tree through the top pane

Pathology results came back from the eviction of my uterus, tubes, and cervix.
Good news: nothing cancerous nor precancerous! Yay!
Bad news: Yup, it ALL needed out, the results read like a bad bingo card.
As my bestie said, "Benignly miserable."
Hoping my baseline pain might go down post-recovery.

My tax dollars pay the outrageous salaries of our congress-critters here in the US. Ostensibly, I pay them to solve problems & think ahead (sure ain't paying for manual labor!). And yet. Even "small" things like this come up, w/no plans for rounding, especially w/taxes. 🧐

This was a wild ride, which I thoroughly enjoyed. And damn but I love me some snarky gallows humor.
yes yes we all know about the Edmund Fitzgerald, rest her soul, but did you know about the ship laden with explosives that sank in the mouth of the Thames in 1944 and could explode at any minute and which attempts to disarm keep failing

Life as an overcompensating hypermobile person attempting recovery from major surgery. Oops, no, don't do *those* isometrics! Wait, no microadjustments from abs if you can find a supported position... Ack! Do *not* do your typical ab crunches, bellydance shimmies, or internal flexes until cleared! 😅

Day 3 post-op:
Down to every so often pain meds. No heavies. Skipped my afternoon dose bc pain wasn't bad. Able to walk almost normally (ribs, hips, & back are stiff from hEDS & forced rest for first 2.5 days). Already noticing that the internal chronic pain I'd acclimated to is... Basically gone?1/

Watching a Korean drama on Netflix called, "Navillera". So well done, cinematography killer, all the feels! The acting is stellar. And then,

The ballet is beautiful as well, we're only in Episode 1. Day-amn!
