Gamer, model railroader, husband, cat dad, leftist. That just about covers it.
Kludgy, again, but it works to throw the crossover with the DPDT switch seen at top. Honestly pretty psyched I was able to figure this out and got it right the first time.

This whole thread is worth a read (it offers some real hope in the midst of the chaos), but this one post made me laugh out loud:
"Another friend put it to me like this: "ICE has made the classic Nazi mistake. They've invaded a winter people in the winter.""
I came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.

Stupid Lowes playing stupid soft rock classic "Longer" by Dan Fogelberg (immortalized in Bloom County as "Dan Fogerburp") so it's stuck in my head more than 12 hours later.
The flugelhorn, it soothes!

Haven't opened it ever. I see enough bullshit in my daily life. Why in hell would I choose to add more?

This whole Steelers thing is tricky for me. On the one hand, my wife is a lifelong Steelers fan and I want her to have nice things. On the other hand SUCK IT AARON RODGERS!
And I say that as a lifelong Packers fan.

After this weekend, I sure am glad I don't bet on sports.
Sheesh.

Finished a prototype for an improved crating system for the club's traveling layout. It's rough, but the modules are firmly bolted to the cart and each other, which is a monumental improvement over the slide-in racks.

My plans for new modules on my club's traveling layout. Most of the current scenery is very rural, but we're 45 minutes from LA; we should have a city scene! Still some spots to figure out, but overall, I'm happy with the design. #modeltrains #modelrailroad

My front lawn when I got home from work today. Fortunately, no one was hurt, none of the vehicles are ours, and the house was untouched. This in a 35 MPH zone in which people routinely drive 20+ over.

If you are a person who loves music, I cannot recommend enough getting a hidef standalone MP3 player and a good pair of in-ear monitors. I'm listening to Tommy by The Who right now on my Christmas present and hearing nuance in these songs I've never heard in 40+ years. Just beautiful.

I walked past Dabney Coleman on W59th St in NYC. Almost didn't recognize him except he did this thing where he pinched his nose that was so totally "Dabney Coleman."
Please quote this with the time you didn’t interact with someone famous - eg one time I was in Cardiff the same weekend as Willem Dafoe (but I didn’t see him or even know he was there until he appeared on the telly later)
Please quote this with your major interactions with massive celebrities. eg “I was married to the pope for fifteen years”

OK, so, I didn't know this. I just remembered her as an animal rights activist.
Never mind then. Carry on.
Reactionary sexbomb Brigitte Bardot has died at 91. She became an extreme right wing racist homophobe, if an animal activist. Husband/Svengali Roger Vadim's "And God Created Woman" (1956) made her an international star. She was a vocal supporter of the far right National Front

What kind of world is this where Bardot is dead, but you-know-who just keeps plodding along.

I say this every single time I see a coach with a microphone in his face at halftime. I'm honestly surprised the networks cede that time from ads.
On-field interviews in the NFL are the most useless conversations in all of football.

What is your strategy for winning?

Well we gotta move the ball downfield and get touchdowns.

Thanks so much for your insight.

With all this talk of how to end Russias war against Ukraine, and a cease fire, keep this in mind:

If Ukraine ceases firing, Ukraine will cease to exist.

If Russia ceases firing. the war will cease to exist.

Pretty clear

One way that the reaction to Rob Reiner's murder mirrors Charlie Kirk's is that the best way to eulogize each of them is to quote their words, and in both cases, doing so pisses off conservatives.
Rob Reiner: “Silence in the face of authoritarianism is complicity. Speaking out is a patriotic act. Democracy doesn’t defend itself. It requires participation, vigilance, and courage from ordinary people."

This is exactly what I'm on about (and exemplar for why I canceled my WaPo sub). He's not "testing the limits." He's "being an asshole." He's shitposting a beloved public figure while most people are grieving. There's no political savvy here, just cruelty and narcissism.
December 16, 2025 at 5:39 PM
Here it is. The best summary of the man I've seen. Everyone in the press needs to read this and cover him from this perspective. No more asking "why." No more asking "how does this square with..." It doesn't. There's nothing to square it with. He's a bully, a narcissist, and cares only for himself.
Virginia Heffernan wrote this shortly after the 2016 election and it still holds true
