Stunning story by @jesspish.bsky.social: He became the most famous sheriff in the U.S. after his hunt for his wife's "real killers" inspired a $60 million 1973 blockbuster ($430 million in today dollars). It was all a lie and his hometown can't deal.

🚨 WaPo SCOOP: Inside the crisis at the Heritage Foundation

The group behind Project 2025 is facing a rebellion — and has been for months.

The Tucker Carlson/Nick Fuentes/antisemitism saga is just what caused it to break into the open.

Heritage staff in open revolt over leader’s defense of Tucker Carlson
At least five members of Heritage’s antisemitism task force resigned after Roberts defended Carlson’s interview with antisemitic white nationalist Nick Fuentes.

Virginia Democrats have flipped back the governorship.

And this likely means they'll control the state government for the next two years, as things look to be going their way in the state House.

That's the gain of a trifecta.
RESULT: Abigail Spanberger has been elected governor of Virginia, the AP has just called.

Her win flips this office for Democrats.

Virginia’s other statewide elections, for lieutenant governor and attorney general, have not yet been called at this time.

I'm a lot more than annoyed! I tried to walk across the street with my trick or treat bag full of your guacamole and I got stopped at the edge of your driveway & a push notification on phone that said "To unlock your guacamole bag, please initiate credit card payment of $4.99"! wtf
Don’t know why trick-or-treaters are annoyed I’m scooping guacamole into their bags. It’s a premium add-on

In the wake of Charlie Kirk's death, a TN sheriff had a 61-yr-old man arrested for posting a meme on Facebook, which the sheriff absurdly construed as a threat. It was pretty clearly bullshit but I dug into the case using FB & public records and now it looks even worse. My latest @theintercept.com:
The Absurd Prosecution of a Man Who Posted a Charlie Kirk Meme
Larry Bushart Jr. posted trolling memes on a Facebook thread about a vigil for Kirk. He’s been in a Tennessee jail ever since.

And further I wonder what liberal policies are being shoved down these children's throats? Like not being able to wear black face for a Halloween costume??
this mostly suggests to me that Tapper’s failed as a father tbh

Pipelines are quite safe so this in fact an even worse reason?

Oh NOES, the national media might see us....
If you think it's "genuinely just insane" for progressives to reject an inexperienced candidate with a Nazi tattoo a full year before the primary, I think we all know the asylum you're spending your time in 😘
It is so lucky for Democrats that this kind of discourse is no longer on Twitter where the national media and politicians would see it. Better for it to be sealed off in this asylum. This is genuinely just insane.

Under Trump, the draconian future of homelessness policy is coming into focus: mass internment. Utah is building a 16-acre site to detain up to 1,300 homeless people inside locked "accountability centers." This is profoundly alarming.
