We have video of Renee Good and Alex Pretti being executed by ICE

We don’t have video of the torture in the ICE camps

We know Geraldo Campos was choked to death

We know Randall Gamboa was put in a persistent vegetative state and deported

We know 2025 was the deadliest year on record

Abolish ICE

Sobbing at another senseless act of extreme violence by ICE while simultaneously on hold trying to get my kids registered for summer camp.

I'm sorry for the person who was beat to death and killed. My sincere condolences to their loved ones. ICE is going to continue to kill people because the purpose of a system is what it does. It is not what it says it does or what you hope it does. Maybe USians will finally confront this truth.

Yesterday, Minneapolis gave us hope. That’s what they’re trying to kill: the will of a people who are willing to fight them.

Once again: Focusing on their lack of training is a mistake. With "better training," their violence would simply cost more, and they would still kill whoever they wanted, but make it look more professional — to make people more comfortable, the way many of you are at ease with local police violence.

I am not being snarky. I need my colleagues who wrote on covid school lockdowns to engage with this. To be as loud as they have been about prior "learning loss." Hell, you can cite Tom & Mark's AERJ paper so you feel better that there's some econ somewhere in your argument.

Seeing how children everywhere are being affected by ICE is heartbreaking. You have kids being kidnapped and living in fear of that but also their friends living in fear of who won’t be at school the next day and why. People who support ICE don’t care about traumatizing kids en masse at all

As an immunocompromised person this is one of my biggest fears- and a reason I’ve stayed home from the hospital when I probably needed to go.

We need clean air and masks in healthcare. It is unacceptable that we have the tools to make hospitals safer, but refuse to use them.

“I got COVID in hospital. My kidneys started to back up. Everything seemed to converge at the same time,” he continued.

Can we please do something about infection control of airborne disease.

People are being hurt by healthcare. People are avoiding care.

The United States has officially withdrawn from the World Health Organization.

This is a shameful move that puts both Americans and people all over the world at greater risk from disease outbreaks, which require international collaboration to contain.

If you kidnap people off the streets and participate in ethnic cleansing, you should no know peace in public or private.
Not exaggerating when I say that the collective action in Minnesota will be studied for generations if not centuries to come

There’s no room for people who tolerate ethnic cleansing in the tent
Someone just called me a believer in "purity tests" because I think the Democrats who just voted to fund the president's unaccountable masked goon squad deserve to be primaried.

If your definition of "purity" is that basic, you're beyond helping

One of the reasons I am so insistent that everyone remember that only 22% of the US population voted for Trump is that the Christian Nationalists want the myth of a mandate in circulation.

We need to reject it. They never had a mandate, and their coalition is shrinking.
The new NYT poll finds Trump 17 points underwater on immigration, and the nonwhite and young voters who went to Trump in 2024 have snapped back to Dems

It's almost as if 2024 might not have represented a seismic cultural realignment on immigration after all, despite 1,000 NYT op eds to the contrary

Public safety means stopping violent crime — not weaponizing ICE against our communities.

That’s why I'm proposing a bill that redirects nearly $75 billion from ICE to local law enforcement.

It is unbelievable that Dems still appear ready to fund DHS right now. Just appalling moral failure and colluding with an ethnic cleansing agenda.

Autopsy report classifies ICE detainee’s death as a homicide
The report deeming an ICE detainee’s death in Texas a homicide comes the same day that a federal judge temporarily barred the deportation of two witnesses.

Every time the Trump regime uses the words "funded protesters" and "outside agitators" news outlets need to cut to this photo from last week.

ICE has invaded these communities. Outside agitators don't show up in their fucking bathrobes.

Look I know this is going to be hard here but rigid adherence to lies about Covid is going to push you to the right. It has to. The eugenicist ideas that we can abandon the vulnerable and that vaccine mandates and lockdowns weren’t necessary because only “those people” died can never be democratic.

Really, she spent years undermining public health—and Democrats.

If there's one empirical insight I'd want everyone to understand about American politics, it's this:

America's problems are solved problems. Just not here.

What would change if the US simply matched the average of 31 peer democracies? Not Denmark or Norway. Just the middle of the pack. 🧵

The authoritarian problem, how do you weaponize the government against people while simultaneously trying to abolish government agencies?
It’s the latter. And it answers a question I kept posing: how do you punish people with complex bureaucracy if you dismantle…the complex bureaucracy that can punish?

You can’t.
On the Friday afternoon before a three-day weekend, the Department of Education announces that borrowers will not have their wages or tax refunds garnished for being in default on their student loans. This could be driven by political considerations or difficulties in actually collecting funds.

Minnesotans “stayed calm” last night and Trump is still talking about the Insurrection Act today.

It’s like an abusive relationship. He will say “look what she made me do,” no matter what she actually did.

It only works if everyone else is willing to blame the victim.
