Boomer parents just consistently underestimate millennials.

There are many reasons to be concerned about this funding compact

One, for public universities, is that it’s probably not smart to agree to freeze tuition for 5 years before you know how much your state is gonna cut your budget in response to the massive Medicaid and snap cuts in the fed budget

Nbd just met my favorite cookbook author at Baltimore Bookfest and fast-talked my way through fangirling at her and cried about how much her recipes mean to me to share food with loved ones.

The upside of making a mermaid themed cake for my child’s birthday is I now have all the supplies to make glittery mermaid tails for any occasion at the drop of a hat.

And all the kid’s friends know that I can make mermaid tails and ask me to make them for their cakes so I’m the fun parent

My goal was to read one book for pleasure, not learning, this summer and I read three so now my reward is I can delve back into heavy and traumatic stuff.

Do people really need data to know that no one deserves to hoard wealth like this, while others struggle to access food, housing, and healthcare?

The NYT corrects itself about an article on malnutrition in Gaza, because if they had known a child featured in the article had pre existing conditions, they would’ve written about that instead of suggesting all children need and deserve food to live.

I know the anti socialism propaganda run deep but I’m just… really confused about who the left column looks good to.

what percentage of Fox viewers are real estate developers?

My annual is gardening even worth my limited time/energy/the small yield we get crisis was resolved by the 6 year old quietly finding and picking a strawberry, rinsing and cutting it “in half” herself, then surprising me with it for us to share. Even if I got the leaves to eat and she got the berry

Even though I routinely forget that making and consuming art is necessary to stay whole (and resist), my 6 year old forces me to remember by asking for things like half pizza, half mermaid cakes, which are incredibly fun to make.

Don’t forget you need art for your soul.

Baltimore Pride conflicted with protests today, but Pride is and was always a protest

My baby sister graduated from my alma mater this week, and I’m feeling all the feelings about what the future is of the quality public postsec ed we were fortunate to receive -and more importantly, who will be able to receive it. I’m also super proud of her. Here we are this week and 16 years ago

Baltimore showed up too, as the good people of Baltimore always do. I didn’t take any crowd pics but sharing my favorite sign.

In good news: It was so exciting to gather and talk with community college teams this week about the work they’re doing to connect student parents to child care.

I’m savoring the good work these folks are doing and the energy to build things that meet people’s needs.

Grateful to have connected with so many wonderful people at the National Coalition for Campus Children’s Centers conference in Philly.

Child care is infrastructure and we shouldn’t rest until it’s treated and funded that way.

Today I masqueraded as a fun parent (but in actuality am a parent trying to prevent dreaded wake/sleep shifts that come with daylight savings) and woke the kid up early to go watch the sunrise.

Thoughts and prayers to fellow parents trying to stay in a normal-ish bedtime routine tonight.

It is devastating to watch the talented federal civil service gutted. Props to New York for not ignoring the talent pool.

In honor of deleting my Facebook account after finally downloading all my pics tonight, plz find this 2012 pic from when I met Lance Bass at a Trevor Project event.

More importantly, be loud and active in supporting trans and queer youth
