Anyone done a metacognitive assignment for an essay that can send me a sample or refer me to resources they've used? I've looked a bit, but always happy to hear directly from people with experience.

@annaleen.bsky.social @charliejane.bsky.social I'm really surprised to hear that OOAC only has one episode left. It'll be sad to be without the regular update on correct opinions! The penultimate one was great, and I'm sure the final one will be as well.

As a kid I absolutely hated reading. All the school curriculum was torture. Then my dad gave me Pratchett’s The Colour of Magic and told me give it a try. It was an absolute revelation. Holy shit I could actually enjoy reading?? I could love it?? Books could be FUN?? Completely changed my life.
performative reading, lack of reading skills, nobody's reading anymore -- NO!

tell me about a book that changed you

for me? the *extremely* ahistorical novel, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY which I read at 13 and was like, "Oh, art can be *everything* to a maker, for good and bad"

The Philosophy of Science Association is running its annual fund drive. Please, if you can donate, consider doing so. The PSA has historically relied on government funding to provide travel support for students. That funding is in question and now, more than ever, we need philosophy of science.
🌍 The PSA’s first Annual Fund is here! Your gifts fuel PSA Around the World, DEI, grad/early-career support, student travel, and more. Track our progress on the donation thermometer & help us reach $15K. Every contribution matters!

I don't think it really matters that much which orthography one uses, as long as it is used consistently. The big problem in Taiwan is that it is still a mishmash of at least 5 of these systems.

But there are some things I wish people did keep in mind:
Has anyone ever attempted a Mandarin transcription system alignment chart? 🍿

In our grand age of generative AI, faculty development centers should help people develop some retro skills. Like, I have no idea how to write good true/false and multiple choice questions anymore. It would be helpful to get some heuristics.
