This plan would have used mixed gauges for the elevated structure, with Interurban Lines running clockwise, and Narrow Gauge (PEPCO) lines running counterclockwise to provide bi-directional service

Multnomah County seems (for now) to have given up on cracking down on scofflaw hot dog vendors, but we really should create a framework where they can operate legally.
You simply can't pretend to support immigrants who are under constant threat from ICE and simultaneously support throwing immigrants in jail for selling juice or tacos on the street.

This is in Snohomish County, but King County (Seattle) is also obsessed with this.

Never forget: Portland once had its very own Weiner Hall.

Located on the corner of SW 6th & Washington (across from the Equitable Building), this structure was sadly demolished to make way for Parking Garage 69, better known for Rocket Fizz and the former TJ Maxx

Thoughts:
- 4th Ave is a perfect subway corr.
- Foster Rd makes less sense to cut/cover than Powell if the EL boosters are to be believed (bus feeders are fine)
- Any Powell line would REQUIRE the East Side bypass for O&M/System balancing
- Might as well continue up Powell to Gresham at this cost
If built as an automated light Metro, this would be a project comparable in scale and complexity to the Canada line in Vancouver.

Fascinating map. Unsurprisingly San Francisco, Sacramento, and nearby were one of the last places alcohol was still allowed just before nationwide prohibition in the 1920s, however, the other ones are also worth noting: New Orleans, Minneapolis, St Louis, Milwaukee, and some parts of NJ.

Uwajimaya is currently exploring a retail center in Tacoma, WA (the company’s hometown)

I don’t see this as a 1:1 indicator, but it implies to me that the company is once again considering facilities that don’t pencil out w/ “typical” metrics

TesoLife and Daiso are doing gangbusters in the region

If you think arbitrarily capping building heights in our downtown, then here's an opportunity to express that and express your disappointment that BPS is unwilling to do that with this project.
Hello wonderful neighbors! Our next happy hour is TOMORROW, February 5th at Migration brewing on Williams from 6-8PM! We are excited to announce that we will be joined by members of Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability who are working on the Central City Code Amendments project!

One of my favorite “finds” during the (ongoing) research phase of some projects- the Portland Comm. of Public Docks “Fact Book”

In addition to commodity/distro. info, it has lovely profiles of industries and resource flows. The isometric map is a plus…

Excuses for inaction with density/transit goals based on tangential factors are nothing more than red herrings. Citizens/interest groups who are opposed to transit projects on principle will use any stupid situation to substantiate their arguments

This is a common trap that US agencies fall into
L.A. Metro, the main transit operator for Los Angeles, just voted to oppose SB 79, a law legalizing the construction of housing near stations. You can't make this stuff up. Legislators should remember this the next time they come to Sacramento begging for more money.

In the long term, I believe there's no escaping the fact that the city must invest more to update the fleet and add bikes. Hopefully this survey encourages PBOT to find that funding!

While it’s quite disheartening to see the negative shift in attitude toward transit at the state level, I must say Trimet’s planning team has done a good job of mitigating some of the most egregious damage.

If anything, this pushed many of the Forward Together updates up in terms of priority
Go to trimet.org/servicecuts to learn more about the service cuts, share your feedback this month and help us shape the future of our transit service. The survey closes Jan. 31.
