I really miss Adobe Photoshop Mix because it let me realize my genius from my phone
Wait, why did Brainworm and Dr. Snakeoil get obsessed with Canadian ostriches with bird flu? How does this further their part in the dismantling of the American state?

Imported prosciutto and provolone with the works add hot mix from Bay Cities in Santa Monica. I'll throw my shoe and hop home instead.

Yeah, we should all be pretty clear about the fact that slashing US AID was done specifically to kill brown people because Musk is obsessed with white replacement. The killing wasn't a side effect of "saving money," it was the point.
I helped make a film, out this week, called “Rovina’s Choice,” about the deaths this man without conscience or accountability has caused — already 600,000, ⅔ of them children.

The framing for all these conservatives suddenly sharing voting maps shouldn't be, "lol, these morons think land votes," because the ones in charge definitely don't think that. The correct framing is, "this is dangerous people trying to establish a narrative to further disenfranchise voters."

Holy shit. A babysitter rented this movie one night when I was like 11 and I never remembered it's name. I spent years trying to figure out wtf it was as an adult but never could. Then this comes across my feed. Man, I have such vivid memories from this movie. youtu.be/yJk7m-kjVmc

Current political divides mean there are people in our streets who don't think other humans deserve human rights, including the right to exist. It strongly disincentivizes interacting w/ strangers. A space where you can feel pretty sure about a baseline for the people around you is a big deal.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue this week, alongside multiple other phenomenal team members.

At our Summit, I was asked how it felt to be 1 of 2 Black women left and what that meant for representation. Now, there are no Black women at Teen Vogue and that is incredibly painful to think about.

Let's be very clear: These CEO's are so highly paid BECAUSE they have structured the companies to offload compensation to the taxpayers and increase value to shareholders.
Walmart, McDonalds and Amazon are the largest employers of people who require SNAP assistance.

The CEOs earned between 18-40 million last year, 1000x their median employee income.

They took billions in profits, while their workers relied on SNAP to survive.

Wanna fix fraud and abuse?

Fix that.

My mum died ten years ago today, so here's a couple of memories. She'd been a war child, so hated to waste food. When she had a new hip fitted, she asked the doctor if she could take the old bone home for the dog.

Not like I'm saying anything anyone sensible doesn't already know, but these pastel nostalgic wishes for a return to agrarian life glosses over how grueling those lives were.

If I wanted a return to the good old days, it'd be to a time you could make a good living writing short stories...

My audiobook hot take is that audiobooks should just be one person reading a book. Getting a bunch of voice actors to do different role and doing music cues or even sound effects just ruins the experience. That's a radio play, and they can be great, but they're not what I want from an audiobook.

I'm reminded of going to see Independence Day on July 4, 1996. That imagery had so much power, such a hold on the national imagination. And I remember which side the audience was cheering for, too.
I'm not the sort of person anyone would accuse of being patriotic, but I'm gonna be honest: those pictures of backhoes pulling apart the White House have a symbolic value that's affecting to me in a way I wouldn't have expected.

Remember folks. The original bluesky ethos by us bluesky elders (apparently I count?) is block and move on.

Don't quote dunk, don't pick fights.
Block, and move on.

This is what made this site unpalatable to the right early on, and we can continue to make it unpalatable to them.
