I've never been shy about the fact that I was mostly a perpetual wallflower back when I was of dateable age, but shit like this almost makes me feel sorry for the "pretty" girls. How the everliving fuck do you get so heavily invested in your looks that *this* seems like a normal, okay thing to do?

Oh lord. Something in my IG feed sent me down a bit of a rabbit hole & I googled the names of two of the little girls who'd been my son's friends in his Seattle day care. One got married this summer. The other girl died three years ago. 💔 She was such a sweet, happy toddler.

I told her I needed a street address. She replied huffily, "It's The Highlands. There are no street addresses." That's me told.
