Christ I need to put my phone down. The line between getting a boost of moral support and driving myself insane is razor thin. The admins may disagree with Stancil but I guaran-fucking-tee they respect him just as he does them.

Again, real press will absolutely respect rules and boundaries, and I always establish that the only observer who can be identified in any way is myself. But all-consuming paranoia about cameras and press is awful for us. ICE is the one operating in secret. We’re the ones bringing daylight.

Never ever ever ever ever ever surrender the microphone. Restricting press is meaningless as long as we drive our own cars with our own bodies, they keep safe in the same way we do for our own.
I’m not totally sure how to address this but apparently I’m getting kicked out of ICE rapid response for the moment because I’m allowing press ridealongs, with an extremely strict condition that no other observer be identified. Lots of observers have allowed ridealongs and they benefit us.

Mutual aid point is A+. Other cities can improve and build on Minnesota but you can't really go "harder".

Winning looks like wasting their time, reducing abductions per officer and per day. Getting someone shot or brain damaged from a pistol whip doesn't slow things down, it just adds more victims.
I keep seeing posts going "when ICE comes to MY city, we'll be out in the streets even harder" and man, I get that sentiment but I need everyone to understand that the work in Minneapolis is partly confrontational but MORE IMPORTANTLY aaallll the stuff organized in the background to help neighbors

No idea if it's mattered for getting hired, but 100% of my job interviews mention my liberal arts background as a strong point in favor.
This is objectively untrue - especially right now, what with the really, really cruel collapse of the market for computer science majors due to AI.
maybe so, but at least you can get a job with STEM. Not so with the humanities

This is so so so correct. There are dedicated people who *tell you what to do*. They'll train you, give advice and support, show you the places with need, or just give you a task, all volunteer.

Which is to say - pay them! Non-profit culture (the bad kind) can wither and die, pay them directly!
I have begun to think that Minnesota pushback to ICE was unique and a model because it gave people something to do. It wasn’t about just going out in streets for rallying purposes. People had a mission: videos, whistles, information and communication flow to communities. They had something to do.

This (magnificent) piece reminds me of chuds saying Minneapolis is full of "blue hair they/them" which, uh, is very true!!!

But people here know they're also the loudest, fiercest, most inspiring little snowflakes you'll ever meet. They start shit, end shit, and make you eat shit in between.
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...

I grew up with Alex Pretti
The kind-hearted ICU nurse shot by ICE agents was my childhood best friend.

I told my boss today "it's slow right now, I'm gonna go home and do ICE watch" and he said "cool stay safe".
TOM HOMAN: “We’re going to create a database where those people that are arrested for interference, impeding and assault, we’re going to make them famous. We’re going to put their face on TV. We’re going to let their employers, in their neighborhoods, in their schools, know who these people are.”

I'll repeat my ask to Democratic Senators here: don't vote for the DHS funding bill, yes. AND ALSO do not vote for another single thing in the United States Senate until the invasion and occupation of Minnesota ends. Don't vote to name a post office, dedicate a road, or even a procedural motion

I'm gonna level with you, I think the most lasting impact of this is that white people are gonna be around white people in MN and then one racist white person is gonna say something fucked up about this and catch hands from another white person with PTSD. 1000% #1 impact.

This is the moment for Anthony Edwards. He is *the* American star now, it's his team, and after "being ya ass" he owns this city. It's too much to ask of a 25yo but that's the world right now.

A quick shout out to dispatchers:

Coordinating commuters, stationary watchers, plate checking, info sharing, shift scheduling, relay, safety, mental health care, school/daycare connections.

If things work out our whole city will be in debt to them, and we'll never know their names.

A lot of people in the country can ask for this to change (Chuck for one) and it does matter. Anyone who can create a headline just by speaking up. Just not Gal Gadot please.
No one with real power can act as though this is not an emergency on par with COVID. They will continue to shoot people until something changes.
