It’s #FemaleFilmmakerFriday! As I did last year, I’m beginning my new #DirectedByWomen thread with an Indie Spirit contender. And, since it’s Christmastide, I'm bearing witness to the religious musical bio-pic THE TESTAMENT OF ANN LEE (2025) by Mona Fastvold. #52FilmsByWomen #1 #Filmsky 📽️
It's also available on Criterion and HBO as well as streaming for free on Kanopy.
FYI Battle of Algiers is free to watch on Tubi

Well worth watching
Ok, I couldn't stop thinking about this. Apologies to the literally dozens of people I've lifted from... I want to do a fully credited version, but I'm sitting here sobbing and, well, maybe you'll feel some release, too.

The only reason we know ICE agent Jonathan Ross is the person who murdered Renee Nicole Walker is because Kristi Noem alluded to a previous incident and reporters started digging.
Kristi Noem effectively "doxxed" the perp.

Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity.

The moderate position here is that every single ICE agent should be tried and put in prison for their many crimes. That's the baseline

I rewatched FRIENDS & was struck at the multitude of establishing shots in scenes where one of the gang is sitting in their apartment reading a contemporary fiction novel

So, as far as I can tell the new PG&E base service charge will basically increase monthly bills for low energy users and lower them for energy hogs. Fuck that sh*t.

Absolutely folks should get a flu shot, but your first line of defense against the flu, COVID, colds, RSV, and measles is masking in public indoor spaces. We're basically inhaling the equivalent of raw sewage water in most public indoor spaces because facilities aren't required to clean the air.
Flu is really bad right now, folks. If you haven't gotten a vaccine shot yet, there's still time.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service
