UK politics live – latest updates
Decades-old racism is returning to British politics, and “it makes people feel very scared” Keir Starmer has said, warning that divisive hard-right politics was “tearing our country apart”.
Speaking to GP and TV personality Amir Khan, the prime minister accused Nigel Farage’s Reform UK of overseeing a return of the racist and divisive politics “that frankly I thought we had dealt with decades ago”. Continue reading...

Still processing the inanity of this cave, like, "We're going to make Republicans go on record that they want to destroy the ACA." You mean the motherfuckers who radicalized in opposition to it & voted to repeal it, like, 22 times? You're finally getting them on record? Really impressed over here
“If Schumer really wanted to use his considerable influence and leverage to stop this, he could have done that,” a senior Democratic Senate aide tells Zeteo. “He didn’t.”
Furious Liberals Call for Schumer to Step Aside, Senate Dems Mostly Quiet
After their shutdown surrender, liberal lawmakers are begging their base to unite behind them anyway – as Trumpland celebrates that their opposition is a bunch of 'p*ssies.'

So, anyway, fuck your feelings.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

I hate** to be that guy,
but the skies of November did actually turn pretty gloomy today. At least by me. Freezing rain in the afternoon. Fairly substantial winds. Etc.
**I don't hate to be that guy at all. I was very much hoping to be able to be that guy today.

I may well have suggested that some of our elected congress might not be so bright. (That's undoubtedly true. There are some folks in both houses that are less than towering intellects.) That's unfair to a lot of the Dem Senators, however. They are probably not ignorant. They are probably complicit.

Warner staffer in DC this morning seemed confused when I inquired whether he had a position on a Senate leadership change. In the sense of like... surprised that such a thing would even be up for discussion. N of 1, obviously. But, y'know.
Warner is up for reelection. He was widely seen driving towards surrender behind the scenes, but he's voting no in public because it's unpopular. The real question is whether he supports a senate leadership change. If not, someone who supports senate leadership change should primary him.
But I cannot support a deal that still leaves millions of Americans wondering how they are going to pay for their health care or whether they will be able to afford to get sick.

I don't want to be a doomer about how much the Senate Dems caving could potentially hurt the relatively limited chances of voting your way out of this in the near future.
I don't want to be.
Which is too bad. Because I am.
I'll contact my useless jackass of a Senator anyway. Because I'm a mark.

Oh. And this will mean that Fetterman is definitely going to run for reelection (if there are still elections). He won’t be able to afford health insurance if he’s not a Senator thanks to his vote.,

I’m old enough to remember when a bunch of people demonstrated in the streets and then Dems won every election for every race everywhere, sometimes by silly margins. Good times.
Anyway, back to normal for the national level party.
