Y'know what? "Yakety Sax" as a piece of music sounds 100% yakety sax. There's no other way you could describe it. Yakety sax from head to toe.

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.

I have never seen someone use the phrase “parental rights” who wasn’t actively trying to shirk their parental responsibilities, and I’m confident that I never will, because “parental rights” is a nonsense concept.
Iowa legislators have just passed a bill out of committee that would end childhood vaccine requirements for school entry.

A state legislator said vaccine exemptions aren’t enough—the whole system must go—because to have to claim a medical or religious exemption is against parental rights.

We need the NDP to step up before we're a two-party state. 38% of the vote would have won handily (and probably with majority governments) in two-thirds of the federal elections since 2000.
(Models Available For Subscribers)

Federal Polling:

LPC: 47% (+3)
CPC: 38% (-3)
BQ: 6% (-)
NDP: 5% (-1)
GPC: 2% (+1)
Others: 1%

Bluesky replies absolutely not beating the "nothing is a joke and nobody ever says inaccurate things for comedic purposes" allegations.
Don't let me catch you hating on Chuck Schumer on here. The man has been in office since 1980. I *think* he knows a little something about politics. Do not ask me what's happened to politics since 1980 please

Dear Americans who could not stop falling over yourselves to praise Global News for being too lazy to check their email on a holiday weekend:

People who live here told you to not be so goddamn stupid.

If Bari Weiss was from Lethbridge you'd be praising her, too.
what in the utter fuck. I knew Global News were feckless but this is something else.

Meanwhile in domestic politics, I’m going to disguise myself as a reservoir of dirty, expensive-to-refine Alberta bitumen. It seems to be the only thing Mark Carney will spend money on.

(I guess if the costume store is out of bitumen, I could dress up as a feldspar mine.)
I think witnessing Brexit as both insider & outsider had a profound effect on Mark Carney. His resolve in the face of the next stage of the attempted destabilisation of the West might even be described as a ‘Brexit benefit’!

A full eight hour day of driving will get you from the middle of France to the middle of Germany.

Also, a full eight hour day of driving will get you from the middle of Texas to only a few more hours to get out of Texas.
"Why aren't Americans doing anything?"

1. We are.

2. Texas may be one of the largest states, but consider there's 49 more and most of them are at least as large as most countries.

3. Ask how many countries celebrate independence from yours before you say a fucking thing.

Worth keeping in mind that if you're a 20-year-old voter, the last time the Liberals weren't in power you were in fifth grade. A lot of that 50% isn't "I hold conservative political beliefs", it's "I'm voting against something that was already the status quo when I entered junior high".
Federal Vote Intention Among:

18-29 Year Olds:
🔵 CPC: 50%
🔴 LPC: 27%
🟠 NDP: 14%
🟢 GPC: 4%

60+ Year Olds:
🔴 LPC: 52%
🔵 CPC: 32%
⚜️ BQ: 9%
🟠 NDP: 5%

Get you someone who feels about you the way the female vocalist on the opening theme to the 1990 Monopoly game show feels about the letter “O”.

(There are at most three people this joke is for, but I have a feeling all of them are on Bluesky.)

An 18-year-old voter has only had meaningful life experience under Liberal governments. (Trudeau first won when they were 8.) So they look at the Conservatives and see "the thing that isn't how the world has worked *my entire life*". That can be mighty tempting to a lot of people.
Federal Vote Intention Among:

18-34:
🔵 CPC: 38%
🔴 LPC: 34%

Already saw someone telling a person talking about protesting at the United States consulate in Vancouver that what they should *really* do is donate to Democratic candidates in the midterms.

Really didn’t want to start the day with “Americans learn *three* countries exist challenge”, and yet.

No joke, *this* is why so many companies forced Apple to abandon its in-app subscription requirement.

I cancelled Disney+ (which was in-app) with one click, and then had to log into Netflix and go through a cancellation form pipeline.

And guess which company keeps spamming me afterward.
i think it should be illegal for the boston globe to allow me to sign up for an subscription online but then make me call and speak with multiple people just to cancel the subscription.
